The only thing firing Sutton does at this point is possibly motivate these sad sacks of shit to play to not lose their jobs. I think Sutton has long overstayed his welcome, but the complacent attitude this defense has is ridiculous. Sutton gets part of the blame for that, but at the end of the day these bitches are paid to perform, and they are not doing their jobs.

But alas, Andy's happy because he got to build his offense that could put 40 on the Pats, and perhaps could have put 44 on them too. Andy wants a DC who won't be too vocal while being shorted.

We all know what Andy Reid is here for, and it isn't the defense. The fact that there is no accountability for these horrendous performances is pretty ridiculous, though.

The point isn't that Andy is there scheming the defense. He's the ****ing head coach, not the head coach of offense, and he sets the standards of performance on both sides of the ball.

When your team is lazy in pursuit and can't tackle, that's an issue that's going to take more than a change at defensive coordinator to fix. That's a culture problem.

He was getting sassy with Sutton at the end of the game, and that's damn near unheard of for Reid. Maybe the fact that we actually lost a game because of these buffoons wakes him up.

Andy isn't going to fire Sutton unless he is forced to IMHO. He called him brilliant after last week's game IIRC and also remember in Philly Reid hired an Oline coach to be his d-coordinator and had to be forced to fire him a year later.

There is no question this team lacks talent on the D side and I was thinking yesterday maybe we should have not got Watkins, paid Albert Wilson, and used the rest of that money on D.

Third-and-goal from the Chiefs’ 4-yard line, 5:32 left in the game, Chiefs up 33-30. After watching the replay six or eight times, this sticks out: Kansas City rushes three and drops eight into coverage. Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton did something I’ve never seen before—assuming I saw what I think I saw.

• Julian Edelman, double-covered, bracketed by Steven Nelson and Jordan Lucas.
• Rob Gronkowski, double-covered by safeties Josh Shaw and Ron Parker.
• James White, double-covered by linebackers Anthony Hitchens and Dee Ford.
• Two other receivers, Josh Gordon and Chris Hogan, singled.

I don’t recall ever seeing a defense double three men on one play, but Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton—who gets a ton of respect from the Patriots—doesn’t play by everyone else’s rules.

Who does this? Who devotes six men to three of the opposition? Sutton did, and it almost worked. But Brady, who has a ton of one-yard sneaks for scores, rarely runs near the goal line from any length like this one. He dove (Gisele had to be covering her eyes) and made it.

And the final kill shot to Gronk, Gramps rushes three guys and puts a guy they brought in off the street a couple days ago (Shaw) to cover Gronk one on one, when everybody in the damn stadium knew Gronk was the main target. How can you allow that kind of a coverage scheme at a critical point in the game like that? Should be grounds for dismissal on that play alone.
gblowfish naild it in his "10 Things" post.
Sutton is definitely part of the problem. He needs to be fired after this season. Should have happened after last season.

My God. This thread. You can bash your ****ing head into a wall repeating endlessly that "it's not his fault," but the key point is that this D is so ****ing bad, it cannot get any ****ing worse. We could hire a hotdog vendor and this D would not play any worse than it already is, never forcing a single punt and giving up 43 ****ing points in a game the offense scored 40.

CLEARLY no coach is replacing him and slapping this group into an average or better unit, but it might spark something. All it takes is a play here and there. There were a couple of brutal moments we rushed 3 and Brady just sat there and found the open guy. Isn't the point of dropping 8 to ****ing cover someone? Maybe call something up to stop one of those many 3rd and shorts?

Also, what about leadership? Our spiritual leader is a crippled guy who doesn't even play, and I've never, ever, not ONCE seen Sutton show emotion or get his guys fired up on the sideline.

Bring in a ****ing motivator to kick their ****ing asses and demand better. It won't result in a 30% or 50% or 100% improvement, but it probably results in a 10% improvement and that's ALL WE ****ING NEED.

BTW, to add, anyone who thinks a different type of coordinator, someone who actually gets his guys fired up, would make no difference must also think Berry will make no difference emotionally.

And that's just wrong. We have the physical talent on D to at least be in the 20-22 region, not the 30-32 region, but we're playing like a bunch of scared, weak, feeble pathetic pussies. Berry will help with that attitude a little, and so would a goddamn man for a coach, not our pathetic empty corpse.

And it's been this way since he got here. It's just embarrassing that Reid\FO don't see it.
