Some people say that the yoots today don't fully understand the concept of a contract. The theory is that the writing part of the paper means nothing. What matters is how yoots feel they are being treated.

One possible solution to this particular problem is "if" the owners say enough is enough and start blackballing players who fail to live up to their contractual agreements.

Of course, it makes sense that, when a college student moves to the pros, he's excited about his first deal. It's perfectly understandable that they'll sign damn near anything just to be a part of the NFL. And, of course, the rookie bag looks real heavy at first. I can't fault a guy for overlooking the fine print simply because he's enthusiastic about getting a deal. I've done it myself.

So it's up to the player's agent to make sure the player understands what that contract means. Sad or happy ... win or lose ... you have to play it out. It's an obligation that you have to see through to the end. That doesn't really work though ...

Why? Because the agent makes more $ on the second deal. It's actually beneficial to the agent to have a player demand a trade. It means more proven inventory in the market and more immediate dollars.

The NFLPA screwed up when they agreed to the last CBA. Rookie deals are out of whack compared to 2nd signings. Revenue sharing and insurance are unfair and the cap is way too low. The owners schooled the NFLPA last time around. Payback is a bitch.
