Late night bullshit: let's talk about the Chiefs offense's first play from scrimmage.

This thing was a beaut. Somebody needs to gif it, because the blocking from everybody on the team was extraordinary.

1st and 10 on the Chiefs own 25. Mahomes under center, with CEH in the backfield.

Kelce motions until he's behind Fisher, with Tyreek Hill wide on the right side. Keizer and Robinson add muscle to Fisher's side.

The play: fake a handoff to CEH up the right side, but the play is an end around to Hill who rushes up behind a bulldozing unit of Fisher, Keizer, Kelce, and Robinson, and he rattles off a 22 yard gain.

The blocking is just.... beautiful.

The "Other Blockers"

Mahomes flips the ball to Tyreek with two defenders in pursuit. Mahomes is just enough in the way to ask the defenders to hesitate for a split second -- which is all Tyreek needs to leave them behind.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire takes the fake handoff and is met by a linebacker, who he plants his shoulder into to further remove him from the play.

Mitchell Schwartz climbs to the 2nd level and gets ballside on a defensive back, and just waits for the defensive back to come to him, completely eliminating him from the play.

Mike Remmers meets the DT in the hole, and gives up minimal ground until Tyreek blasts off, so Remmers rides the DT into the pocket and away from the play.

Austin Reiter doesn't do much after snapping the ball, but he does scamper 15 yards down the field to continue looking for blocks.

Kelechi Osemele pulls away from the play, actually going from left to right when the whole play is going right to left, and lands a push against a defensive end working down the line.

The Key Blockers

Travis Kelce immediately shoots out to the strong side of the play, getting his hands on the boundary corner and erasing him on the sideline, opening up the barn door for Tyreek to explode through.

Demarcus Robinson starts off the play tight against the OL, and immediately gets ballside on a DB, who he continues blocking downfield as the play continues, until the defender gets driven to the turf.

Nick Keizer slides out a little and walls off a DE from the play, before bursting downfield and tracking down a DB about 25 yards down the field that Tyreek sadly never gets to.

Eric Fisher is the greatest blocker on the entire play. He guides a DT away from the play, hands off to Remmers and sprints downfield ahead of Tyreek, getting his hands on a DB and bulldozing him 10 yards backwards, pancaking him into the turf.

This play was such a treasure to watch, as Ravens players get tricked, erased, and by the end of the play their bodies are hitting the turf everywhere as Tyreek doesn't get a finger laid on him for 22 yards.

It's a thing of beauty.

Here's a thing I noticed...KC's first play, on successive 1st quarter drives, got them to or past the 50.

That's amazing...this was peak Reid/Mahomes (so far). The game was just getting started...

I mean...what do you do? One play and they are already on your side of the field...rinse and repeat.

Chiefs just destroyed the consensus #1 team...and made it look effortless. This is getting Jordan-level...it wasn't the Jets.

Like they can just **** around for 3 1/2 quarters...then kill you. People forget that CEH had them inside the 5 late against the Chargers...then ref-ball kicked in. That game should have never gone to OT...

It appears fish is in better shape age wise right now. But Mitch started a little rusty last year too.
