Recall the rules below. (Rule #5 was modified slightly from the nomination thread.)

1. This vehicle will be yours at no purchase cost.
2. You will keep your current vehicles, so no need to worry about fitting a baby seat in it or being able to haul mulch.
3. You're responsible for parking it.
4. You pay for gas or electricity.
5. Insurance and maintenance up to $3,000 per month is free to you. You cover the next $1,000 if the expenses are higher, and then after that the expenses are covered. So for a high-end vehicle you'll cover a max of $1,000 per month.
6. The vehicle must be street-legal.
7. The vehicle must actually exist. It cannot be a cartoon or concept drawing. However, it can be a production vehicle, a concept vehicle, a custom vehicle, or anything else that is real.
8. The vehicle being nominated is the exact vehicle shown. You cannot change the color, the interior, the engine size, etc.
9. You cannot use the vehicle to make money. It's only for your personal use.
10. You cannot sell the vehicle.
11. Any type of street-legal vehicle is allowed. You can nominate a car, a truck, a minivan, an RV, a semi-truck, a motorcyle, a classic car, a school bus, whatever. As long as it meets the rules above, it's eligible.

Oof - two Rolls in the same round as that Mercedes is just silly. Three cars that could all be elite 8 contenders here (and again, at least 2 rounds thus far where none should advance)


The Merc is a no doubter. Gonna go with the convertible here over the Ghost.

I'm liking the idea of luxury right now, so I'll go with the two Rolls Royces. I prefer white over black as a color, but I also have trouble embracing the concept of a Rolls Royce convertible. If you're driving a Rolls, people are probably plotting to kidnap you. So I'll go with the Ghost as my #1 and the Dawn as my #2, though I could flip that order on a different day.

I'm a sucker for gullwing doors, but otherwise I'm not a huge fan of the Mercedes style. I like it, but I'm not gaga over it.

And I bet the truck gets bad gas mileage, and I don't need to haul stuff.

On the topic of gullwings, I'm distraught that I didn't remember to nominate a DeLorean.

The number of cars that have stolen directly from these styling queues even through that era of rollerskate 2-seaters through the late 90s is staggering.

That's one of the most beautiful cars ever built.

In 1954 Mercedes came out with a street version Mercedes 300SL Gullwing for the new car buying public. In doing so they kept the tubular frame and fully independent front suspension. It was the Straight Six Mercedes 2,995 cc single-overhead cam engine that received Bosche fuel-injection for the first time. Said to have 215 base horsepower, it was capable in factory form to reach speeds of 160 miles per hour, making it the fastest production car in the world at that time.

Innovative (first use of a slant six), fast as hell with a suspension and platform that came straight from auto-racing and achingly gorgeous.



If this thing doesn't advance this competition is a farce. Hell, it should probably win the whole smash.

I love convertibles but that black RR is incredible so went with the Ghost. I also voted for the Mercedes-Benz 300SL. One of the houses in that contest had one in it's garage and it's one of the reasons I voted for it so much.

Boring heat for me. Not into any of these cars. Took the Mercedes. Not a fan of Rolls Royce. I think they're ugly. I'm a wedged shaped car kinda guy. Not into box shaped cars.

I don't really have a good rationale. I like it, so don't assume that my shrug is a dislike. I think I'm just not a fan of that trunk curve, and the whole car looks like it's half 1950s rounded car and half sports car.

I've got nothing against it, and gull wing doors make anything great. I'd just prefer to tool around in my Rolls Royce.

As much as I'd like to go with the 300SL, I would have a hard time getting into it and would need servants to get me out of it. I'll go with the 2 Rolls.
