2022 was such an amazing, poetic year.

The Chiefs trade Tyreek Hill, and the AFC West and Bills go completely all-in to finally knock off the Chiefs. Every sports media head in America not named Nick Wright picks the Chiefs to be either a Wild Card team or to miss the playoffs. Mahomes proceeds to have arguably the greatest single season by a QB, the AFC West is wrapped up by Thanksgiving, and the Bills can't even get past the Divisional. The Chiefs get the Bengals monkey off their back and reclaim their honor in the Super Bowl after the embarrassing loss to the Bucs.

And now the rest of the league is reeling from the aftermath of going all-in while the Chiefs are just chugging along at a historic pace of dominance.

Its the Golden Age, baby.

Yup.

And now you know why Brady had it made in that craptastic division for years: everyone else shit the bed trying to keep up.

Both in-game and with management. In the offseason. In the 4th quarter. Teams went high-risk to try and beat the greats and only increased their likelihood of failure...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I don't know about that. The AFC East did jack crap in trying to keep up. Outside of the Jets trading for Favre in 2008.

Yeah, the Broncos and Raiders failed miserably in their arms race but at least those teams tried to upgrade. The Bills spent nearly 20 years trotting out losers at QB. The Jets never did better than Chad Pennington and the Dolphins were satisfied with average.

The Wilson and Payton pairing failed but the Donkies tried. They didn't sit pat (pun intended) with Drew Lock.

Brady had it made. It is almost like the 1950s Yankees where the competition was OK with second place because they made money when NY came to town.

There was that 2 year run with Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez that DID temporarily dethrone the Patriots in that 2010-2011 area. So there was 1 team that did make it interesting for a bit.

But other than that, yeah, the AFC East seemed totally content to just roll over and die for the Pats.

Pat's going to have it made.

Both Denver and LA are going to be cap-****ed for the next two years. The Raiders will just bungle everything like they always do.
