How do you beat the 2019 Kansas City Chiefs?

I am curious how teams will try to attack us this year. In my opinion, there are only 3 things that can prevent us from having a Super Bowl Season (and 1 very low odds thing).

I'm really pumped for 2019.

1. Injury to the NFL MVP Risk: Medium
Why: Duh.

2. Passes to the boundaries (CB) deep corners (CB) and over the short-middle (LB's). Risk: Medium
Why: So far, it seems we have improved against the Run, we still can produce pressure, and our safety play has improved drastically.

Because of the hole at CB, these areas of the defense are our most vulnerable, IMO, which isn't a bad thing, all things considered:
- By itself, taking the time to throw deep corners all game is not sustainable and will result in a lot of incompletions and sacks. That means more Time of Possession for the Chiefs' offense.
- By itself, throwing WR screens won't work all game, and will mean more Time of Possession for the Chiefs' offense.
- By itself, the short middle of the field means throwing into Chris Jones' paws and risking tipped ball INT's. It's not sustainable all game.

All together, those three approaches have me worried, because dinking and dunking will move the chains and can drain the clock.

3. Injury to the NFL's #1 TE Risk: medium
Why: This will force us to look to other areas of the field and position groups for production. That would make us less dimensional on offense than say, a WR going down. I wish we would have addressed the huge hole at TE2 - not for the production, but for the insurance against injury.

4. Reid's health Risk: Low
Why: His playcalling is critical to our success. His health is terrible. God forbid something happen, that could derail the season.

What else has you guys worried?
What would you do if you had to play against us?

Disagree with you on #2. The corners working the boundaries will be fine. The play at slot is much more worrisome, Fuller be damned. Mostly due to the communication, and/or passing off the coverage to LB's.

Opposing O's will and should target the middle of the Field and short boundaries in order to expose our LB's.

Screen game, dump off passes into the flats, rub routes and passes into the seam will be heavily used against our D. We'll likely see our fair share of curl routes as well against Ward, something he struggled with in the preseason.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but how do we know Andy’s health is terrible? He’s a bigger dude but he’s always been big. Contrary to the many health experts that post here, you can be hefty and not necessarily be unhealthy. And, before anyone speculates, I’m 5’11 185 so I’m not tooting my own horn here.

You already know how everyone is gonna plays us, they're gonna run until we show we can stop it and follow it by throwing short and over the middle. Then they're gonna turn around and play back and force the offense to be patient.

Those 2 things together will likely lead to fewer possessions and the thought there is a few mistakes and they can steal a win.

Also, "draining the clock" does not matter against the Chiefs. T.O.P is one of the most overrated stats in football.

The Chiefs were 26th in T.O.P last year...

Trying to play clock-draining small ball is difficult as you must be perfect at it. One holding call, an incompletion or a stuffed run and now you're behind in down and distance.

If a team is going to beat the Chiefs they're going to have to score 26+ to win. There's no getting around that.

Make sure to take out Vontaze Burfict in Week 2. His job is to kill Mahomie.

Limit Mahomes' possessions, and play pitch perfect defense.

You're likely not going to win a shootout with Mahomes. The guy turned the football over 5 times in a game and still put up 51 points.

Keep him in the pocket, putting the guards and centers to the test on if they can hold up, and force Patrick Mahomes to be patient. He loves to go for the jugular, so the test will be can he reign in the killer instinct when he needs to, and just stay on the field.

Chiefs defense will be nothing to write home about. We will be marginally better than last season, and if the offense can repeat what it did last year,it should be enough.

Spagnuolo has had his broken clock being right moment with NE, but everywhere else, the dude has been in the shitheap with the rest of the scrubs. Hopefully his staff can help elevate the squad, but I not looking for the D to go out and win us games. We will get marched on, and scored on with regularity.

Chiefs had the most pass attempts against last season. The Rams basically beat us without a running game that night. NE and Seattle were the only teams that won by trying to grind....and it still took ridiculous plays by Wilson and Brady late to win

I thought Belichick already mapped this out :

Defense : Rush the passer through the A gap.

Offense : Run the ball to keep the passer on the sidelines
