Are there any unknown "rules" against acquiring a second remote job?

Background: I work from home, and I love my job. Due to this, I don't want to jeopardize my current job but would love to acquire a second "easy" remote job that I think I may be able to secure (in process). While it pays less than my current job, it would be a great way to just funnel this money into a bank account and let it sit.

Are there any precautions I should be taking, or any unknown rules I should know about when/if acquiring a second job? For example, does my HR or company get notified by any sort of outside source (such as when they send me my W-2) that another company is sending me a W-2?

What I have read online seems to be all over the place, and what I've generally come to the consensus of is that I can get a second job, and there shouldn't be any issue, just to make sure that I keep up the work for both jobs, if not, my "main" job which was already a given.....

I guarantee you that almost all of these jobs, even the ones listed as "early career", pay more than $60K

As others have shown, it might be easy to appear that you are online working when you aren't, but I don't have another avenue available to me right now instead of taking away the work from home option, which I do not want to do. I have one engineer that works for me that lives in Belgium. I'm not going to ask him to move to the US.
I don't disagree and it depends on the job, but some people can out perform others. Some people can do in 20 minutes what it takes someone else an hour to do. Bottom line, if the work is done (performance) and it's the same amount of work distributed to others (equality) and people have time to work other things, it shouldn't be an issue. Your employees are not indentured labor. They aren't slaves.

A salary job is a salary job. If it takes 20 hours, 40, or 60, per week, then so be it. I would say that if someone is consistently over 60 hours then there are other problems to solve.

What kind of project management skills and what kind of projects? Does she have the PMP? Is she familiar with software development and customer implementations?

Look at the bolded words. Reading is fundamental, troglodyte.

You're either being really stupid or disingenuous. The way you've been answering is like saying you have a pet who you take for a walk twice a day, barks loudly and is like a member of the family. Then when someone asks what's your dog's name you say "Huh!? Dog? I never mentioned a dog. When did I say dog!!?"

If you can't understand that you don't have to specifically say something without the sentiment being logically inferred by the third party then you're pretty dumb.

I wonder if I called you dumb there? Reading is a fundamental thing and I need you to tell me if I did or didn't because I dunno. Did I?

Moron.

Before now, I didn't have a single poster on ignore. Congratulations, you have made the list. Enjoy your toast and beans, your crooked teeth, and your wife that looks like Margaret Thatcher. I'd tell you to have a good day, but I doubt anyone as stupid as you has bad days. Window lickers always look blissfully happy.

A number of these state "Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated --- facility. "

We both know I'm not applying for any but...

Yeah, we have what are called category 1,2,3, and 4 workers. Cat 1 is full time in office, cat 2 is half time in office (like me, 2 days a week), cat 3 is less than half time in office (typically one day a week or as needed), cat 4 is full time telecommute. I think most of these listed will be cat 3s.

Personally I'd love to work from home part time. I can one day a week now if I wish. I'm growing to like it. Truth is I need the social time.
I've become quite antisocial in my old age...

I HATE the commute. It wastes 2 hours a day....time that I could actually use to be productive, either for work or for myself. It's just lost time for nothing.

It's not illegal, but often times a fireable offense per your company's handbook or whatever.

To pull this off, you need to make sure to keep both businesses on separate home internet and use two different phone lines.

This is much easier to accomplish if you are a valued resource at your current organization resulting in little interest if they found out you were "helping a friends company with x,y,z..."

Good luck!
