Are there any unknown "rules" against acquiring a second remote job?

Background: I work from home, and I love my job. Due to this, I don't want to jeopardize my current job but would love to acquire a second "easy" remote job that I think I may be able to secure (in process). While it pays less than my current job, it would be a great way to just funnel this money into a bank account and let it sit.

Are there any precautions I should be taking, or any unknown rules I should know about when/if acquiring a second job? For example, does my HR or company get notified by any sort of outside source (such as when they send me my W-2) that another company is sending me a W-2?

What I have read online seems to be all over the place, and what I've generally come to the consensus of is that I can get a second job, and there shouldn't be any issue, just to make sure that I keep up the work for both jobs, if not, my "main" job which was already a given.....

The only thing is that there are excuses that can be made that are very hard to validate. "The supplier's schedule is too busy to get us the prototype parts we need for fit up", "We ran into a software issue that has put us behind two weeks", and "When we ran the simulations/mocks we identified issues that will require a total redesign." These are all things I have heard ove the last few years. Sometimes valid and sometimes not. I don't spend hours looking at people's online time, but a quick sanity check every week doesn't hurt.

Seems pretty generous of them to keep you on board when they could hire someone to take your position who would be twice as productive.

You should pay your kid $20 to do the lawn and when he quits halfway through, tales the money, and tells you that you don't do anything for him anyway... tell him good job, you'll give him $30 next time.

I agree that’s the easiest and quickest way but plenty of companies promote from within so for those who like their location doing extra work is a great way to achieve promotions. The idea that working hard is pointless and can never lead to more is just how lazy unsuccessful people rationalize things. Also I’m sure in many industries these companies/people talk so I wouldn’t bank on a person’s habit of working half the time not following them to job interviews.

And? Anyone who resorts to a "look at how much money I make" response to literally anything is using perhaps the lowest form of retort, ever. It's pathetic and I love how it's come from the self styled "leader".

It really depends, it works at some places, there are also times that being the hardest worker just means you make the same pay that the other guy does while you do twice as much as him and get asked to add more to your plate.

The point being made was clear. You certainly didn’t create some gotcha embarrassing moment.

Pipe down bootlicker. The point he made is redundant because he'd look like he'd been doing a terrible job if he didn't hand out those oh so big bonuses.

I didn't mention how much money I make at all. You seem to have a real problem with reading comprehension.

Pointing out someone’s poor logic and communication skills does not make one a bootlicker. If I said your wife hates you because you can’t speak coherently and without using personal insults of her and you responded with evidence to the contrary I don’t then get to try getting the class to laugh at you for “bragging” about a happy marriage and claim I pointed out how pathetic and insecure you are.

Just based off of your posts in this thread I doubt you have much personal experience with what being the hardest worker gets you. There's nothing wong with that. Every organization needs middle of the road talent too. You don't strike me as the extra mile/hardest worker person though.

If I was a boss for a full time worker on my payroll working remotely and then they started working a second job during the same hours or it had a impact on my company, they would be fired ASAP.

If that person picked up a side hustle and it had zero impact on their performance in my company and no conflicts, go for it.

Easy call in 99% of the cases.

You sound like you are trying to weasel in a second job a la Prison Bitch. Lucky he didn't lose both jobs.
