It was alright. Lots of stuff around my house broke and it ended up costing me a ton of money.
The kid has entered the bratty part of her toddler stage and it's really starting to test my patience. I love her to death but the meltdowns over every minute thing are getting old. I hate rushing her to grow up, but I'm ready to be past this. |

A very quiet year overall. Nothing overly good, nothing bad.
Focused on weight loss again for 2023. I let it get out of control last 3 years. Heaviest I have ever been. Causing all kinds of issues.

As a Professional Mountain Bike Instructor/Instructor Trainer, I traveled the country(Sedona, AZ -Chiloquin, OR, Kingdom Trails, VT, Ocala, FL and points in between) , rode some of the most iconic trail systems in the US and met some pretty badass people. Traveled on company dime and I'm getting paid to do this shit! My relationships with my kids is the best it's ever been(youngest is 18), moved on from the divorce in 2020 and now living my best life! |

Not been a good year. Hoping 23 is better.
In chronological order: Sister was diagnosed with cancer. Had a couple surgeries and multiple treatments Mother in law who is already in a home due to dementia is rushed to the emergency room 3 different times over the spring I work on a project that kills my back. Lots of chiropractic care and expense goes into getting it fixed Our 16 year old dog develops cancer and needs to be put to sleep Mother in law is rushed to emergency room a couple more times and is put into hospice Mother in law passes away. Sisters in law forego a memorial service (MILs wishes), makes my wife feel out of the loop so she doesn't feel like she has closure Every birthday and holiday has been extremely rough on my wife, so it has been a struggle to keep her positive Sister is cancer free (much needed good news), but because it was such a weird cancer, she will need to be tested fairly often Child already dealing with extreme anxiety has a near breakdown and almost drops out of school. Changes in classes, medication and extra therapy get us back to being a functional human Economy is now starting to affect the profitability of the company I work for. While things are OK for the moment, the belt is being tightened. Having been through layoffs before, I am a bit nervous Elections did not change enough to improve client outlooks. Making me more nervous. Ended the year with Covid. Enough to knock me out of work for a couple days and to feel blah for the last week+ Found out I gave my parents Covid, thankfully they caught it early enough that they were able to be treated |

Wife’s grandma died on New Year’s Day. Bad start to the year. Work is fine and boring. Brother died of cancer at 34. This wasn’t completely unexpected but figured he had a couple of years and was gone in 10 months. Son started kindergarten and is doing fine with that transition. Money stuff was good. Got a new truck a couple months ago. The wife and I are expecting a baby girl in May. Christmas was kickass. So I mean it was a good year for the most part but my brother dying means I can’t go higher than Justin Fields.

Got COVID on New Year’s Day and survived, met the most amazing woman who is now my fiancée, achieved major personal growth, traveled a bunch, and ended the year with a bigger bonus and raise than I thought I’d be getting. Can’t think of much else I’d improve upon…well, I guess I didn’t win a billion dollars in the Powerball, but that’s about it.

Finally got to go on our trip to the northwest that had to be postponed in 2020. It was wonderful seeing old friends for the first time in way too many years. Got some debt paid down and things are looking better in that area than pretty much ever. Health is holding out, so that is always a good thing! |

Tried to end a shitty year on a positive note by going to my first game at Arrowhead. Got the family together with great tix 7 rows up next to the player tunnel. Then the whole Southwest airlines apocalypse happened. Barely made the LAX flight to get stuck in Denver. Never made the flight/game to KC. Ended up renting a small car for 5 people to drag ourselves back to California on Christmas day. Another reason to hate Denver.

I give myself a 9
Stock market was bad this year, but that's why I built the size of nest egg that I did, to withstand years like this. There was never anything I wanted to buy that I didn't just go out and buy. So in effect - financially it was a good year. Health-wise, we had cancer revisit the family, but we showed it the door. All other health complaints are age appropriate. Family-wise, we all get along with each other well, even after spending an entire weak on the OBX beach in a house together. The grandkid considers us good playmates. Really, I don't know what I am lacking to be Mahomesian. But I hate to think in those grand of terms.

In retrospect, I should've given the 10 to a lesser quarterback and made Patrick Mahomes II an 11, with instructions that no one is allowed to select it since no one's year could be that good.

2022 for me was Zack Wilson. Started off the year with a hernia. Mere minutes from being wheeled into the operating room a nurse rushed in and informed me that I had tested positive for Covid. Out come the IV's and everything else that was hooked up to me and I was rushed out the back door like an unwanted stepchild. Still have the hernia - never went back. Dryer quit, sewer line clogged up, hot water heater went out and I was informed my old lines weren't up to code so they had to be replaced. Later a gas leak was found and had to be repaired. Just this week my car battery died and had to be replaced ($300!). If I had any family living with me they'd probably be throwing garbage at me.
But I'm still standing so bring on 2023.
