So....Dune 2020. Cool?
I learned today for the first time that a remake of the awesome book (and decidedly less awesome early 80s movie) Dune is being made, and is currently in post-production with a release date of December 18, 2020.
The cast includes many I don't know, but the ones I do know seem excellent for their roles. It's damn near a Marvel reunion... Jason Mamoa as Duncan Idaho (the swordmaster of House Atreides) Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck (weaponsmaster of House Atreides, played memorably (and surprisingly) by Patrick Stewart in the original movie Stellan Skarsgard as Baron Harkonnen Dave Bautista (better known as Drax the Destroyer) as "Beast" Rabban, the nephew of Harkonnen The most critical guy -- the one playing Paul is unknown to me. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3154303/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t3 This film is also only going to cover the first half of the book, which is good. It's really not possible to cover the whole thing in one 2 or 3 hour movie. Anyway -- I love the book and a really good film would be great. What say you about all this news? Or am I just the last to known (as would be typical, to be honest!) |

If you saw Tenet over the weekend, they had a 90 second trailer that was more of a teaser. I guess a trailer drops tomorrow

It does look good. Certainly better than the shit that has come before.
Although..... Once again, they didn't get the Fremen eyes right. Anyone deeply addicted to the spice is supposed to have dark blue eyes; in the book, Herbert describes Janus's eyes as looking like beads of dark glass. The light blue whites depicted in the trailer would match people who only take melange occasionally. Deep desert Fremen eyes should look like this: While it would certainly have sucked for actors to have to wear huge contacts while filming in the desert for months on end, they could have done it with CGI. This isn't a movie version of a ****ing dime novel. They should respect the source material. |

Sounds like WB is going to kick this back to 2021. Wonder Woman 84 to the Christmas season too

DV is known for his detail so I'd be really surprised if he decided not to include the coloring of the eyes in his final edit. |

It's a small point, I guess. At least I assume there won't be any heart plugs or weirding modules. |

That’s also something that aesthetically is harder to pick out in film than a startlingly light blue color. A factor as well ...
