Man, I like it. All three picks today are solid football players that are VERSATILE. It allows you to do so many different things without telegraphing your intent to the offense because you don't have to change personnel. a DE/OLB, a DE/DT on pass rush downs, and a LB/S

Okay, so he clearly excels at slipping past blocks in space when he is pursuing and trying to make a tackle. You see that in the Alabama playoff tape, and his success on special teams (Chiefs #1 rated ST player in the draft - sup, Toub?) speaks to this as well.
With that in mind, I think he is going to be naaaaaaaasty on Safety blitzes... he could have a ton of sacks and if he can chop like Tamba or DT, a lot of forced fumbles as well. |

I like that this guy could replace Sorensen but I hope that now doesn't mean they will have Sorensen then replace Ron Parker as the single high safety. What a disaster that would be.

If the Chiefs go FS in 4, then maybe there'd be some sort of competition there but I have my doubts. I see Armani Watts, Dane Cruikshank, and Jordan Whitehead as kind of that last tier of guys that might be able to start out the gate |

At least we won't have to look at Zombo and Sorensen on the field at the same time anymore.

This is basically bolstering the secondary, which is what we wanted. A coverage guy to play in dime. Teams are in dime so often that he can have an impact here if he's as good as some expect.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Chiefs don't draft a safety. They added Golden and maybe they like McQuay more than we know, but considering the vets available on the market it's not like one has to be drafted to improve the safety group. |
