Give me a modern day generational back?

Todd Gurley?

I don't think the second contract is worth the risk.

If I was going to break the rule it would be if I was in the situation the Giants are in. They invested a high pick in Barkley (Which I wouldn't have done) so giving him a second contract makes sense, but I still think its full of risk.

The difference in a "generational" guy and just a good one isn't what it once was in terms of the actual value they bring.

Look at Dallas, I mean, obviously Zeke is an elite badass. But they can get 80% of that production from the dudes they've got. Now that 20% is ****ing awesome and frankly, they've built their team around him so they kinda have to pay him, but that is a whole other argument.

Agree with this.

If you built your team around a RB like the Giants and Cowboys are, you kind of have to double down on the decision.

It is weird to see a #25 RB out there. He def doesn't have that Charles speed or balance but ****, who does?
Charles was special. I see Darwin more as a Darren Sproles but with Frank Gore's "Football is EVERYTHING" mentality.

This feels like when Russell Wilson was impressing people in camp his rookie year and all that anybody who was around him could say is he is special. I feel like Darwin's work ethic and insanely focused mentality will pay off and they'll end up making a ten minute ESPN creative content piece on him one day.

His workout regiment alone should display that he's kind of one of those broke brain people who care only about football all day every day. I wouldn't want to be that but I'll love having it on my team.

Rb's just take such a beating. I mean, this isn't the old NFL, these dudes train and do football shit year round.

As a RB you're getting hit on every carry by 250 lb LB'ers and 220 LB safeties who these days run 4.4's.

That shit takes a toll.

I really want him to start, I understand Williams will but... I think this kid has something that could be special in run game.

Not sure it'd be a good idea to have the highest paid QB and the highest paid RB in the league.

Not sure where I read it, but someone compared him to a muscular Dion Lewis, or Brian Westbrook.

I like that.

All that said - here are Hoover's RB Rules to live by:

1. Never give one a second contract - like NEVER.
2. Use them all. I hate the RBBC, but its become a necessity in the NFL.
3. Draft one every year. Just keep the position filled with young talent, you never know when you are going to need them.

C'mon man how is that ever going to work out in the real world? You really expect to keep winning that way?

Oh right.

Just read a mock draft with us picking 30 and taking a running back. Darwin is about to change that narrative.

Funny enough, they have the Rams taking Isaiah Simmons (athletic linebacker from Clemson) one pick after us. He would make a lot more sense.

You don't need a generational RB if you already have a generational QB. The generational QB makes everyone on offense that much better therefore you save your $$ and draft picks while acquiring draft picks to keep your generational QB fully loaded for SB wins for the future always providing him a solid support cast but no outrageous $$ spent on big FAs unless they come in on the cheap. If you have a player that does develop into a superstar that does want to be paid then see Bellichek. They usually get let go unless they are willing to be flexible. If you are not flexible ADIOS !! You don't want a Cowboys situation that is for sure. A QB who "thinks" he is a top 5 generational QB but is far from it, a diva RB who is close to generational but shelf life sucks for RBs and Cooper will want more $$ for sure.

It better be a corner or LT if they like what they see at that 30 position.

I completely agree. I feel like you can find undervalued guys just by drafting players with bad 40's but really good 20's who have showed they are agile as well. Seems like this is what Darwin is, which is why I'm a big fan of him.

If little dt ends up being a big deal in this league, it will be because of the role he carved out in Andy's offense. Andy's one of the best and adapting his scheme to what his guys do best. There's a lot of mouths to feed in this offense so we may not get to see little dt get 20+ touches a game while he's here but I bet he does well with the touches he gets a la Westbrook.
