I don't have much hope of extending Sneed at this point, it just feels like he'll have no trouble getting an offer out of Veach's budget.

Yep. Not sure you mention the possibility of a trade, allow the agent to talk to other teams if you wanted to resign him. Think this only happens when you want to part on good terms.

The bigger issue with Sneed is simply that he has been paid chump change in his career, so he's gonna want absolute top dollar...whatever that number might be for him at the moment. The top end of the CB market is $21M per year. Are the Chiefs willing to pay that?

That headline also reads as a report from the Chiefs which would highly suggest that Veach has heard from teams already about trading for him.

the #Chiefs have never given a market extension to their own defensive back under Brett Veach.

The last time they gave their own player in the defensive backfield a deal was Eric Berry.

The Chiefs like Sneed a lot. They love McDuffie. Merritt said he was the highest graded corner prospect he's ever seen. McDuffie also has an all pro to his name.

I read this as Sneed is making a 4th rd salary and this is his best and only chance to get money so he's not gonna take a deal that doesn't maximize that and Veach understands and will help him get paid somewhere else.

Might be for the best
