Spending a week in Norman, OK in August

Norman is one place that I've never been. Other than OU, what is there that I should try? I will be working 8-5 every day from the 12th-15th in the post office, switching them over to VoIP. But my evenings will be free. Is there any place that comes highly recommended to eat? Any suggestions appreciated.

Have a friend from college who works for a big oil and gas company in OKC. There’s a lot of underrated places to eat there. Here are some of his favorites:

This is one of my favorite places to eat breakfast. Guatemalan family started this restaurant and it’s so good.

I’d go with some meth, followed by food poisoning at a local establishment, lots of PBR, maybe a crack whore bj in a dingy gas station bathroom. Then finish it off by meeting Reerun for a date rape drug laced beer, and end up chained in a shed on the back of his property and used as a sex slave until he accidentally chokes you out during a dark time after “Fat Andy” actually wins a SB and he has no other material to use.

Or this

OKC is actually a really fun town... for a weekend. Like any city they have fun spots. I was wasted the last time there for my birthday. We went for a Pearl Jam concert. The river walk area had neat bars.

That said I was offered a really good job in OKC and did not hesitate to say hell no. I even told the manager to move south to Dallas and call me. Hahah

I have nothing bad to say about OKC and Oklahoma in general OGE Corp is a very good client of ours. We do a lot of work there for them. Have offices in OKC and Tulsa. I actually like it better than Texas where we have offices in Houston and Dallas. If I was asked Id transfer to Tulsa or OKC and be just fine.

You are about to enter the dirty lint navel of the middle United States. If you are of ethnic background, decide which weaponry is most appropriate for you and pack accordingly.
I assume you are not a vice guy, but if you smoke or have other hobbies of that nature, you'll want to load up before entering the economic wasteland that is Oklahoma.
ALWAYS drive at or below the speed limit. This economically deprived state is notorious for doing anything and everything to raise funding.
It looks like you will only be there for a few days which is good. Very good. At the end of said time, you will be absolutely pissing your pants to get the hell out of Oklahoma and go back to wherever it is you are from I guarantee it.

Have a great trip!

Since reading the opening line "You are about to enter" I inadvertently read that entire post in Rod Serling's voice.

A few restaurants:

Taramahara's Mexican (they put cameras in the kitchen that display in the dining room, which is brave) Great, great mexican

Victoria's Pasta Shop. best American/Italian food I've ever had

The Mont - I list this strictly for the ambiance of the patio and viewing of Coeds. The food is bar food.

The Library - great beer, right off campus, spent soooo much time there.

BONUS: The Deli. It's live music 365 days a year. Spent many many nights here.
