Swedes have a strong survival instinct.
You were a Swedish immigrant in North Dakota, and one of your jobs was to recruit other immigrants to the area to work. This is what you were doing on the Titanic, as you led a group of 17 Swedes to the promised land of the northern plains. In the scramble aboard the ship, you threw yourself into a lifeboat as it was being lowered. You later reported a fear that you would be shot, but you were dead anyway if you didn't try. It's believed that it was Lifeboat 15, which was the most crowded lifeboat that was almost swamped by having 65 people on it. It was the last lifeboat found, so you likely had a long night. But hey, you survived. At least some of your group survived because they were Swedes, but I'm not sure how many. You went back to the Dakotas and became an unlicensed chiropractor, moving frequently to keep from getting arrested for practicing without a license. You eventually found a home in South Dakota and stayed there (presumably still practicing without a license). Name Hedman, Mr. Oskar Arvid Outcome Survived, Lifeboat 15 Gender Male Age 27 Home St. Paul, Minnesota, US Embarkation Southampton Destination St. Paul, Minnesota, US Passenger Class 3rd Class Crew Department Unknown Crew Job Unknown

YES! I finally lived in one of these. Apparently doing non-licensed medical procedures is easy in South Dakota. I was able to practice there for 40 years. Quote:
