What did we learn? Week 2

Mahomes doesnt need to leave the pocket and can still throw for 400 yards

Brendan Daly was our biggest off season acquisition. Tanoh made a nice play on a run and had a sack. Emmanuel Ogbah through 2 games has quietly been our best defensive end.

Spags unlike Sutton can make adjustments

Breeland will get burnt like Nelson but unlike Nelson can make a play on the ball. That red zone pick was awesome.

DeMarcus Robsinon could be a #2 WR on some NFL teams

Blake Bells pass blocking help out Erving was underappreciated

This team can take a punch

Not sure what to think about spags yet. Our pass rush seems to be the issue but we've been surprisingly vanilla with blitz packages. I wonder if he just doesn't trust our DB's.
I think it's just a case of not having the full package installed just yet. Brand new defense, mostly new players, not a lot of time together in the preseason. We saw more 'stuff' this week than last. I expect we'll see some more next week, and so on, and so on.

I haven't seen anything yet that makes me think the AFCCG won't be between KC and NE, as the clear powerhouses in the AFC, and that BOTH those teams aren't better than anything in the NFC, meaning that the true SB is the game that will be held at Gillette or Arrowhead in January.

Pats defense hasn't yet been tested, tbh, but looks ridiculous. Some of the off-season additions only increased the athleticism of the D.

Ought to be a titanic battle. Unlike some on here I'll hope for full health for both teams for that match, and look forward to seeing it. Until then, I imagine both teams will for the most part keep knocking down their opponents and making it look comically easy.

Kelce took one look at the coverage and thought - well, I'm taking this play off.

We are an insanely dialed in collection of talent right now.
Looks like Kelce is prepared to block for #11 on the drag. Andy likes those drags that end up being screened on the opposite side. He's watching the defender to see if he breaks to make the tackle, then he knows its ok to start blocking. Need to see the A22 + coverage shell to figure it out.

I say the Raven's take out the Pat's. We will beat the Raven's in the championship game. This weekend is a preview of that game.

I'd imagine Kelce knew "it's 3rd and 20, Pat isn't throwing it for 6 and punting".

Cannon will be back in time for the AFCCG. We don't even know what's up with Wynn, so can't say yet.

Their replacements did ok yesterday, but nobody fears Miami's pass rush. As long as the replacements don't get anyone killed before the starters come back, hopefully it will be forgotten by January.

Though I know you fervently root for players to be injured, because you lack both class, much of a conscience, and confidence in your own team.

I tend to agree with you. DRob was wide open and probably could have gone for 25 along the sideline with a block from Kelce. But it's hard to tell from that short clip.

I'm just amazed how much time Mahomes can have a lot of the time versus the O-line getting dominated on running plays. Only way to shut this offense down is maul the line like the Patriots did in the first half of AFCCG.

We learned that Mahomes’ ankle is still tender (he didn’t step into several of his throws), but that it doesn’t make nearly as much difference for him as it would for most QBs. He can really fling it a long way on arm strength alone.

Not that I want this to ever happen, but it also shows that mahomes can most def carry a team after his new contract. Even if that means a revolving door of #2 and #3 WRs.

People are really overstating the “Spags made adjustments” angle.

There were plenty of games where Sutton’s defenses would stiffen up at the right time.

I agree. I have not felt the usual gut-wrenching stress, the bile in the throat, and the incessant negative thoughts that usually accompany Chiefs games. It's nice.
