By the way, Marcellus, I think this might give you some perspective on my mindset, for better or for worse.

I had largely divested myself of my Chiefs fandom since leaving CP in 2014. I hadn't purchased any gear for years and I just kind of stopped caring. I didn't watch the draft for that time. I didn't know they drafted Marcus Peters until like 3 weeks after the draft and I didn't know they drafted Mahomes until TRAINING CAMP last year. I just wasn't paying attention at all.

That's the mindset I had coming back here over the summer. I wasn't invested at all. Right or wrong, I let the first 4 games and the discussion here suck me right back in. It all seems a little surreal yet. Mahomes is SO good, it almost seems too good to even be true. Like this isn't really even happening. It's so counter to the other 3 decades I've followed this team that it's just foreign.

Nevertheless, like I said, I went from not invested at all to rabid fan overnight a couple of weeks ago. I bought a brand now Mahomes jersey on Saturday night that hasn't even arrived yet. And then they lost on Sunday night in a way that was all too reminiscent of the past. It was a HUGE letdown for me and that's fueling this. I know it isn't rational or fair but that's where I'm coming from.

That Colts game almost killed me, too. I mean, I was still hooked, but to a much lower degree. It's actually been nice for me and made this latest loss pretty easy to take. Hell, I even took last years Titans debacle in stride. I still care a lot, but it's nothing like it was before. That Colts game hurt so much I had to re-prioritize things.

It wasn't a meaningless loss.

And yeah, when your QB plays like Mahomes did in the 2nd half, losing like that absolutely is flaming out.
I don’t have any confidence that we can beat anyone at home with this defense, either.

IDK about this. When have we ever worked our back like this game? Personally, I have never turned off the TV after a loss with as much hope and positive energy moving forward, as on Sunday night.

Sunday nights loss was nothing, I mean nothing, like previous Chiefs losses of the last 2 decades. To say it was is just saying because they lost its the same.

The 85' Bears defense isn't keeping Brady out of FG range with 3.5 minutes left.

The game was an outstanding battle, they out played us first half, we outplayed them for 27 minutes of the second half and they got the ball last with the HoF QB at the helm.

That doesn't sound like many Chiefs losses in my lifetime. Maybe a couple of Elway losses from way back.

Yeah, it was different. I wasn't worked up, heart pounding, yelling and screaming and throwing shit. My wife even commented on my calm demeanor.

We're in uncharted waters here.

I was at a the game with my brother and 2 friends and told them I didn't give a shit, the loss only means Smith is gone and its Mahomes time.

I was actually kind of excited, I was that convinced it sealed Smith's fate. Especially considering how he played in the 2nd half.
