49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

Have the Chiefs ****ed up royally on QB's over the last 30 years? Yes thats obvious.That still doesn't change the options available in the 2012 draft.

I think Bray may have been the best bargain of the entire QB class.

THEY HAVE HIM. They have the exclusive right to evaluate him day to day and determine if there is any there there. At this point it doesn't matter how, just like it didn't matter how Brady or Warner made their rosters.

Good post. Even an idiot knows that the team drafting 1.1 almost always needs a QB. This class was bad.

Of course he is. Matt Moore has shown nothing but inconsistent play, more bad than good, Carson Palmer is nothing more than a complainer and doesn't do well in losing situations.

And Jason Campbell despite knowing the offense, and being supported by the front office as they hate Brandon Weeden, couldn't beat him out.

The gap is absolutely huge given what Andy Reid wants from his qb.

he wants a mobile guy, something that Moore, and Palmer aren't, he wants an accurate guy which Campbell has not shown.

The Skins gave up 3 first round picks and a second round pick to move up four spots to grab a franchise QB.

That is waaaayyyy different than giving up 2 second round picks (assuming we quadruple our wins from the previous year).

Anyone who thinks we gave up "franchise QB" compensation for ASmith is a complete and total mouthbreathing moron.

Well, I certainly remember this roundabout discussion in 2009 when Pioli brought in Cassel and said **** drafting a QB.

I look forward to the 2017 off season. I anticipate the exact same circle-jerk with new cast-off retreads and scary, risky, unprepared rookie QBs.

The QBs 'weren't good enough' the few times we drafted in the top of the draft order.

The vast majority of the time we were drafting 20-25 and usually the good QBs were gone already.

Distinction WITH a difference.

That said, Cassel has been ****ing us since 2009, which I noted since day one, including putting us in position to draft 1.1 in this particular draft. But Pioli and Cassel are gone now, praise be.
