In a 1 game championship like the NFL it's easier for fluky things to happen and the better team doesn't always win. Say it was a 7 game series like the NBA or MLB, then the better team in the NFL would always come out with the title.

Rypien was having a great year on an absolutely stacked team (1991)

Doug Williams Redskins were too powerful for Elway to overcome (1987)

Both Giants quarterbacks (Hostetler and Simms) had great defenses headlined by Lawrence Taylor and coached by Parcells (1986 and 1990)

Some of these games resembled Super Bowl XXXVI, XL, or XLIII where the supposedly "better" quarterback loses

I really thought we would get a chance to see him in action this season but Alex Smith did enough to keep him off the field.


I'm going be pissed if Alex Smith is our starting quarterback next season anything short of a Super Bowl this year.

Really looks like Mahomes could start Week 17.

Tough spot to make his first start however, on the road against a really good pass D.

And I guarantee it'll be like the 2013 Chase Daniel game at SD and he'll be playing with all backups...Although I don't know how smart it is to start your future with all backups in a meaningless game, but you know Reid will want to give everyone another bye week before the playoff game.
