If given the choice..

.. which team would you rather support if either were established in Kansas City?

Pole cumming.

Both are fun to watch. It would be nice to have a rivalry with that city across the state. I lean towards bball as I do like it more

Undoubtedly an NHL team. I didn’t get into hockey until I moved out of KC. Now that I’m back it would be awesome to have a hometown team to root for. Couldn’t give two shits about the NBA.

NBA would be the bigger draw. IMO.

Been to a few Coyotes games. Can't get into it. And you can go practically free some times.

Yeah, there is zero doubt in my mind that the NBA would be a bigger draw, but the question was which one I’d prefer. I get that I’m in the minority, but the NBA and its paid for championships just doesn’t interest me.

Good question actually - that's fairly tough to answer for that town, I'd say.

If I still lived there - Most likely actually attending games would be the NHL

NBA all the way. It isn't close. The NBA is the only rival in popularity that the NFL has. There's no reason that KC doesn't have a team and I think they will soon.

And when they do all you people who say "I don't like the NBA" will start to get into it and realize the NBA is 12 months of entertainment. It never stops being hilariously amazing and the trades are crazy and the games are fun and they'll sign local guys. Forget the Kings in 82, this is a different game with social media.

I'd argue you would get into hockey too if you gave it the chance you want the NBA haters to give it.

Also, the NBA is the NFL's rival? The NBA is right next to the MLB, not next to the NFL.

Extra attention paid to the population breakdowns towards the bottom. Even if you view the Gallup poll at face value, the NBA and MLB are basically even with the NFL still in a league of it's own. Saying the NBA is the only rival the NFL has is wrong.

The NFL is the most popular in this country. Soccerball is the most popular in the world. Basketball is the second most popular sport on the planet

I really like BB but the way NBA games are reffed are so effing lame. I watch a bit during the playoffs for the freak athletic ability but I refuse to get attached to a team.

An NBA team in KC is going to be as successful as the Sacramento Kings aka cannon fodder for the big market teams.

NHL isn't as lopsided.

I agree that like soccer, hockey is too low scoring but the comparison ends there. Hockey with unlimited substitution is played at a sprint and regardless of the situation a score could happen within seconds. Soccer with very limited substitution is played at a slow jog. With far more lulls in the play.

When a hockey player gets knocked down, he gets up. When a soccer player gets breathed on he goes flying and rolls around on the ground for five minutes.

Each their own. Well, except for the soccer idiots.
