Demarcus Robinson, a superstar in the making?

The penny seems to have dropped with this kid. He was absolute class against the Titans and once again he carried that form on last night. Folks have been raving about him In camp and it just all looks to be coming together for him now.

He's recently spoken about the hard work he put in with Pat In the offseason and how he's finally started to grasp the playbook, So I expect to see him get better and better with each snap. That stop-start move he pulled off for the touchdown yesterday was pure quality. He's just so elusive and his ability to get separation in tight spaces is second to none imo.

I think he's gonna be our number three WR and I believe he will make a massive step forward this season. Because in terms of raw talent he really does have it all I think and he actually compliments Tyreek, Sammy and Kelce so well because his style is different to all of them.

I do believe he will take the #3 from Conley, he is just a better all around athlete

Chris Conley or DeMarcus Robinson?

Quote:
Yes, there are others. The Kansas City Chiefs have several wide receivers with obvious potential besides the obvious starting pair of Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins. De’Anthony Thomas is back for a year. Byron Pringle is in camp. The Chiefs drafted Jehu Chesson just one year ago in the fourth round, trading up for the former Michigan receiver just one round after Kareem Hunt. There’s also Gehrig Dieter, Marcus Kemp, Jordan Smallwood, Daniel Braverman and Elijah Marks.

But really, the spot for a third receiver at this point for the Chiefs comes down to Conley and Robinson.

A recent column at NFL.com attempting to project starters for each team recently gave Robinson the nod as the Chiefs third receiver. It was an interesting notice since Conley is typically given the nod as the third WR on the roster. But Patrick Mahomes’ had a (seemingly) nice connection with Robinson in the season finale at Denver, and it’s easy to make some projections.

Rewind one year ago and Conley was in full control of a starting wide receiver spot. That’s before he was lost for the season due to injury coming into the last season of his contract. Now the former third rounder seems like he could be on the outside looking in with more to prove than most would have believed coming into the 2017 season.

Robinson on the other hand showed up late for the Chiefs including a nice effort in the unfortunate playoff loss to the Tennessee Titans. He had four catches on four targets for 57 receiving yards and 1 touchdowns. Including his four catch effort (on 10 targets) from Mahomes in the season finale and it becomes clear that Robinson was earning some impressive reps at season’s end for the Chiefs.

This is a good problem for the Chiefs to have. Conley is very bright, motivated and hard working. He’s also an incredible athlete who has yet to be truly featured in the Chiefs offense that has too many other mouths to feed. It’s clearly a mistake to forget about Conley and believe Robinson has anything sewn up, because if Conley is truly healthy, he’s a serious talent to be used with Mahomes under center.

That said, Robinson is also remarkably athletic and the only reason he wasn’t selected in the late first or second round in the 2015 NFL Draft is because of character concerns at the University of Florida. On pure talent or potential, he’s also very deserving of reps in this offense.

It will be interesting to watch who emerges for the Chiefs as their offense comes together in training camp. Hopefully Conley is healthy enough to give it a real go and both players get their best chance to compete for targets of their own.

This FO is like the inverse of Carl's.

Bad at finding offensive linemen, great at finding WRs.

Dude the new FO found us an ILB with knee issues and a kicker. Veach was the reason why Dorsey got all the talent that he did.

Hunt, Kelce, Hill and Robinson are plenty.

No depth on the lines at all and a terrible secondary. Homer.

You tried to make it sound like Robinson being a star would be a bad thing. That has nothing to do with Watkins. If he becomes a star, it would be just as much of a surprise to Veach/Reid as if would be to us, hence why they went and got Watkins. It’s easy to sit there and say that in hindsight, but who gives a ****? Robinson being a star would in no way be a bad thing, and to bring up the Watkins contract as if it makes it a negative is so typical of your pessimistic bullshit that has no substance.

It’s easy to sit there and say we should’ve spent the money elsewhere. How about some names that would’ve been great fits at affordable costs? It’s easier said than done. It’s not like we ignored our needs. People talk about Watkins like we didn’t also attack a need a ILB with the best FA available. They met with Mo Wilkerson who they obviously felt wasn’t worth the risk, and they weren’t able to get the other Fuller after trying. They clearly weren’t ignoring those positions. You can’t fix everything in one offseason.

Muhammad Wilkerson and Kyle Fuller.

I’m still wondering why he passed on all the corners in a strong corner draft, but have patience and let things play out.

I dont think Veach viewed this year as a must win and I'd agree. This picks seem to be more of adjusting the attitude of the defense. Remains to be seen but we will love Berry, Ragland and Hitchens flying around hitting people.

Wilkerson's had the same offer from us as GB and he picked GB. I'm not sure if I wanted him after we just dumped our problem child on defense.

Would have loved Fuller though. I've been critical of what Veach has done so far next year IMO could be make or break it's entirely way too early to make that statement but hes certainly set us up nicely for next off season

Bad at finding offensive linemen? Like drafting a 6th round guard who has become a solid starting guard? Like drafting another 6th round guard that is now a starter for another team? Like signing a guy named Schwartz who has been a good to very good RT for years. Even a player like Morse you cannot consider it was a bad 2nd round draft pick.

Such an overreaction in regards to the Oline. The same or pretty much the same OL who allowed some QB named Smith to have a career year and at some point to be in the discussion for MVP. The same OL which had a rookie RB be the leading rusher.

Carl's lines were legendary though.

Andy's lines have been mostly average at best, until last season, when they ticked slightly over.

Now it looks like Fisher has regressed, Erving is a dumpster fire and even Schwartz didn't look good last night.

If this FO found OL like it has found wide receivers we would have a top 5 line.

I dont think Robinson will be a star but hes serviceable in this offense so is Conley. Alex missed Robinson in that game last year vs Pittsburgh. He would have been looked st differently around here had Alex been competent. I thought he played well in the playoff game too.

To answer your question about who should we have got? I'd have to go back and look. I didnt pay much attention to free agency this year. I specifically said though defensive line was the #1 hole the Chiefs must fill. Blame Alex for that playoff game idgaf I was there. As soon as Chris Jones was injured that defense was useless. Hamilton and Jenkins are not good enough options. Bailey is too unreliable.

I don't know if I'd go as far as 'superstar' but there's a very good chance he's going to break out this year. Him and Pat seem to have chemistry and he seems to be coming into his own.

Lmao you are basing this off 1 game and making excuses for Mahomes. Those were the same sacks that Alex took that you put on Alex. Mahomes was good for the most part there was 1 sack if he was a half second faster it would have been a huge gain. Thst happens with young QBs. He also had a terrible throw to Kelce you would have gifd the **** out of if it was Alex.

I said this offense will be conservative for the first month while the youngin adjusts you're going to blame Reid and the line
