I think Lee is going to be like the Patriots signing Wes Welker from Miami.

It's all about the fit. I think by week 6 the rest of the NFL are going to be bitching about how we stole this kid from the Jets and ended up with an elite LB.

This offseason began looking like a black hole of talent on the defensive side of the ball.

Besides a the CB position, they Chiefs may are as many pieces in place on the defensive side of the ball as they do on offense. It's really amazing.

Seems like they want fast linebackers that can cover and DL that can stuff the run and pressure opposing QBs.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see us go with some new age sub sets on defense where Odaniel, Neiman and Lee are all on the field at the same time.

Clark
Saunders
Speaks/Nnadi
Jones

Odaniel
Neiman
Lee

Fuller
Breeland
Thornhill
Badger

That’s a pretty talented unit to combat today’s passing game.

So we know everything that Lee does well. What does he not do well?

Because the Jets let him go for a 6th....surely there's holes in his game that we aren't talking about. To give up on such a young, athletic player that they invested a 1st round pick in so quickly for so little should at least raise the question of wtf went wrong.

Lee, Honey Badger and Thornhill should show a big improvement in coverage in the middle of the field.

O’Daniel, Berry and Sorenson were the only players we had last year to cover TE’s or defend speed slot receivers.

Pretty obvious that Spags and staff saw the Pats game and immediately made that a priority.

From what I read he' was a locker room distraction and slighting the Jets organization on social media.

And Gase got rid of him the first chance he got.

Part of it is scheme fit, but it has to be something with discipline and run defense because his pass coverage graded out full blown elite.

I’m sure Daly brought an unfiltered view to that room in how our defense was viewed.

Lee isn't really a fit for a 3-4 for one, what he doesn't do well, he's undersized and doesn't like to take on blockers. I'd say he's more willing today than he was when he was drafted but it's still something he'd like to not do.

He is your classic athletic LB that would like to run around and fly to the ball to make plays and really never deal with a lineman ever. I'd say he's at best an average run defender because of something of that.

Like I mentioned much earlier, he's the type of dude you go nuts for in Madden because fast LB's makes the game easier, in real life his speed has a ton of value because of all the passing but if a OL gets out on him he's probably going to get bulldozed.

Yup. "This here, this is a joke. This is ok, this is good, but then this is another joke. Ok, this entire position group is a joke."

Lee, I assume, was worth a little less due to the Jets declining the 5th year option on him.

Lee has the talent to be a high tier player. Some of that is going to be want to and just unlocking the talent. He basically had almost all of the same knocks DJ did on draft day.

I loved Donnie Edwards for what he was.

I remember Lee being a highly-rated safety out of high school (IIRC), which is why I think he could be outstanding on the outside.

Actually he was a 3 star QB that desperately wanted to go to Ohio State, switched positions and busted his ass to play there because of how much he wanted it.

He is built like a safety though, his size is probably the biggest knock but in a 4-3 it's not nearly the issue it is in a 3-4.
