10 Amazing year. I had the life equivalent of throwing for 50 touchdowns and 5,000 yards | 10 | 9.71%
9 Really good year. If life had refs, they would have called a lot of taunting penalties on me. | 10 | 9.71%
8 Good year. I would probably be franchise tagged if this was a contract year. | 15 | 14.56%
7 Above average year. I hardly had to punt at all. | 13 | 12.62%
6 Slightly better than normal year. In lifes playoffs, my year would squeak into the #6 wild card slot. | 5 | 4.85%
5 Pretty run of the mill average year. My life will be drafting in the #16 spot next year. | 12 | 11.65%
4 Slightly below average year. It had some good spots, but it also had spots where hotel videos were released by TMZ. | 9 | 8.74%
3 Not a very good year. I tanked and traded most of my good days away for future draft picks. | 14 | 13.59%
2 Terrible year. As years go, this one was a Haglund. | 7 | 6.80%
1 Abysmal year. It was as if Vance Joseph was my life coach. | 5 | 4.85%
I'm not going to tell you how my year went. That's between me and my shrink. | 1 | 0.97%
I don't know how my year went. I'm usually in a daze. | 2 | 1.94%

This was a weird year for me with distinct ups and downs.
Personally, I had a lot of fun. I took the freighter across the Pacific and tramped around Asia for a while, and man, I love doing stuff like that. I added five new countries to my "places I've been" list, and got to see and do some awesome stuff. I also added two states to my "spent the night there" list (up to 47 now!), and added six states to my "done a half marathon there" list (up to 34 now). I've also been making a lot of progress on a hobby that a friend and I have started collaborating on this year. Healthwise, it was a very good year. No health problems at all, but I've continued to slowly gain weight and I'm at my highest point since 2009, which is about 10 pounds over where I'd like to be. I'm going to concentrate on that this year. Family life is good and stable. I've had to take on a little stuff with extended family, but it's doable. Professionally, it was a pretty terrible year. My company did fine, a nice average year, but I was terrible. I've lost pretty much every proposal I've gone after for the past six months, even ones where I was clearly very qualified. It's pretty frustrating. I'm not sure if it's just a random thing or if there's some reason for it, but I need to turn that around. Chiefsplanet has been a great place for me this year. I've got two business/investing things happening with people I've met here, and another person did something very, very nice for me this year that floored me. I came for the football and stayed for the people. The stock market was brutal for me. I'm negative this year even though I put a lot of money in. That hurts. Over the past several years, though, it's been a big net positive, so I can't complain in the long run. But this year was a painful reminder that you can't just assume that you're going to make good money every year. Given that my work year was slow, I also tackled some personal projects. I got two household projects off my to-do list this year, one of which was pretty large, and I'm almost done with a third one that's large. So overall, I give it a 6 even though that feels low. It had enough downside in a couple of areas that it wasn't a great year, but it sure had a lot of upside as well. A 7 may be a bit high because if every year was like this I wouldn't be a happy citizen just due to the stock market stuff and my personal work failures in the back half. But on the other hand, a year like this every once in a while lets me catch up on other aspects of my life, so it was still a happy and productive year.

Overall, not too bad. Job's good, wife's good, life's good. Chiefs are good. Got to see the Donx game at Arrowhead. That was good.
Probably the worst thing was freakish/horrible things that happened to some friends and family. One friend from my home town got blown up when the freon tank of an AC system he was working on exploded - lost an arm and the hand on his other arm. I can't even imagine. Another high school friend lost everything in the Paradise fire. My cousin and his wife were on a motorcycle that hit a deer - he survived with injuries, but she was killed instantly. Obviously none of these things were a direct impact, but boy, shit like that makes you realize how fast life can go sideways. Lost an uncle to dementia, but at least the ordeal is over, both for him and my aunt. Hoping to start the new year with a playoff win. That would be nice. |

Solid 8.. Lost my dad this year, that was crushing, but he's with my mom, so that takes a lot of the sting out of it. We got some great father-son-grandson time over the summer, and for that I'll be eternally grateful.
And the financial advisor earned his bottle of Scotch to say the least... I'm not a Scotch drinker, but I know he was very happy that his wife can't keep a secret...

Pretty bad year.
My Parents who have been chugging along in their 80's started to have the wheels come off their bus and I have been in charge. My Dads dementia is worsening and my Mom has multiple heart issues. Luckily my Dad is happy as a clam in his oblivious state. Beyond happy with my Wife and Kids so no complaints there. On the home front the flooding in our area has been kicking our ass. We have moved our basement out a grand total of 3 times in one year. Live by the lake die by the Lake. We had a couple of good vacations, on in the Spring to Mexico that was awesome, but the one we took to Colorado in the Fall was terrible. On the way to Colorado my Truck Transmission blew and left us in Fort Morgan. In the blink of an eye I spent 35K and bought a new truck. That is a small world problem...whoa is me I have a new Truck. But shit I am not looking forward to the payments. Here is to 2019! BE GOOD |

Really good year for me...
Had back surgery last year, laminectomy, and starting in Feb of this year started feeling much better and have been pain free most of the year and golfing and hunting again. We had a record year in sales at work after years of being stagnant by choice due to capital concerns, this resulted in a nice increase in income. The wife and I, and two adult children were all healthy and in good spots this year. Went to the home debut of PMII against SF... Actually got emotional after his scramble touchdown throw early in the game, I knew we finally had the MAN. Both my parents are in their late 70's and have had good healthy years, as well as the Mother-in-law (who I actually like) It was a good year, in fact, probably the best in the last 8...

One of the best sports years, one of the best personal years, and easily the most abysmal political year of my lifetime. So I'm torn.

I survived wrecking my kayak on the Rio Grande and lived to tell about it. Had an awesomeness year. Made more money this year and got a new girlfriend I'm falling in love with.
