Apparently Jordan Love sucks balls

With no preseason, I was missing my overreaction threads, and it's hard to get riled up about your team when they're the defending Super Bowl champions. So here ya go. From The Athletic's Matt Schneidman:

Quote:
He hasn’t fallen down the quarterback depth chart – he was already at the bottom of it – but Love has yet to even provide a glimpse at why the Packers traded up to draft him in the first round. Nobody expected him to take the world by storm in his first nine practices, but every throw he makes seems like a touch pass and he’s had some accuracy issues early on.
La Fleur is saying a lot of, "He needs time," "It's been a rough offseason," "He'll get there eventually," etc. type stuff.

I have nothing against Love or the Packers, but it WOULD be an exciting tire fire to watch if Love had to step in to game action this season and ended up looking way more like Mitch Trubsiky than Patrick Mahomes.

A QB from Utah State sucks against pros or rookies from big schools? Who woulda thunk it? Terrible pick and I’m a fan of a school in the same conference.

Any word on the Chargers Rookie QB? I'm hoping he's terrible, too.

Veach should get all the money for pushing the Mahomes pick rather than one of these other bums. Imagine being stuck with them for 5-10 years instead of the best QB ever to play the game.

I bet it's hard to evaluate other quarterbacks now that Patrick Mahomes II is setting the standard. It's like trying to differentiate between 31 asteroids and then you throw the sun into the dataset.

I never understood the comparison of Love to Mahomes. I just don’t see it in Love’s college tape. Same thing with the Drew Lock comparisons to Mahomes.

I am so looking forward to 15 years of 'next MJ'.

Remember Harold Miner?

Jordan Love probably won't even have "Baby Jordan's" career.

You judge greatness by its graveyard. How many bodies is the mere shadow of Mahomes going to leave littered across the NFL draft?

Just beautiful.

LOL yeah that was a huge reach comparison. More hope than reality. I’m not an expert QB scout, but the highlights I watched on Jordan Love looked nothing like Mahomes.

He’s decently athletic and has good size but he was really inaccurate from what I saw.

I don’t mind people drafting QB’s because of their importance so I won’t blame the Packers for trying, but I don’t expect Love to unseat Rogers any time soon.

Obviously teams always have varying degrees of success in drafting QBs, but it seems to me that we're definitely on a hot streak as a league in terms of finding QB talent that can actually play. I know it's still a bit too early to crown some of these guys, but in reflecting on the past, I just remember far more QBs becoming glaring busts much earlier than these guys are doing right now.

We realistically haven't had a truly bad class of QBs in several years, and it's hard to put all of these first round QBs from the past 5-6 years and point out the epic draft busts. Manziel is the only one I can think of. I know there's Bortles and Trubisky both drafted in the top 5, but those two guys have won their teams a lot of games and put up a good statistical season or two for being TRULY legendary draft busts. They're more Bust Lite than Bust. Rex Grossman and Mark Sanchez-type busts. Not the same thing as a Johnny Manziel-type bust.

I'm waiting for a string of these raw live arm type prospects who get compared to Mahomes in their draft scouting reports to go bust. When that happens, I think the league is going to calm down a bit, and dudes like Jordan Love aren't going to be quite so highly drafted.
