I’d guess it’s Hopkins. He has been less injury prone.

Andy/Veach are going to take the best reclamation project they can find. That's your answer.

It's going to be Sammy Watkins 2.0, without the health issues (hopefully). 6' 1"-6'2" 200-215 lbs, better than average speed, better than average+ agility, very good hands and route-running ability, good run blocking capabilities. High football IQ.

But I just have a bit of a bias against bigger WRs so I may not be being fair there. As a long-term developmental guy who could potentially replace MVS by 2024, you could do worse than use a 4th rounder on him.

Rewatching some of the WRs in the upcoming draft this morning. Several guys projecting to run sub 4.3 40's, others with quick or shifty feet, those Deep Threats and YAC types we love in KC. Addison, Hyatt, Downs, Flowers, Rice, Mims, Scott, Boutte, Tillman, Iosivas, Palmer, Perry, Mingo, Hutchinson, and Dell. Just highlights, but I think you can get an initial feel for a players true play speed and style that way.
With 5-6 WRs going in the 1st these days I'm assuming Q Johnston, J Addison, J Smith-Njiba, and Hyatt are all gone by our spot. Jalin Hyatt is THE GUY, in my opinion but I think he we'd have to trade up for him. No other WR in the upcoming draft seems to run away from defenders the way he does, pure separation with or without the ball, elite speed but he's also got good size and played against top competition. Scott looked like the second fastest, noticed a couple of plays where he turns on the track speed to significantly outpace the defense down the line. I think CP board is sleeping on both Downs and Flowers, and probably Dell too. These 3 guys are shifty AF! KAD Toney'like squables that really pop on tape, edge of your seat type players. Downs is crazy smooth, Flowers brakes ankles, and Dell's no joke at his size. Dell's production blows other guys I've seen picked in the first or second round out of the water. All 3 of these guys can seperate and get open, with scary YAC potential. Rice looks like he plays a bit bigger than he's listed, makes a lot of great contested catches, sure handed, not as afraid of contact as the guys above bumping and running a bit more down the sideline. Mims is similar, makes a lot of contested throws but also has a lot of blown coverages on his tape. Not sure either of these guys are in the burner category like the guys above. Boutte, I think might be a bit of a gem at this point. Not sure why he didn't produce more after his freshman season, don't care if he slept with a girl while in college, he flashes a little bit of star power in his game. AT Perry impresses me. He's got a little bit of D Hopkins to his game that I wasn't expecting at his height and he's a fluid athlete. He's actually kind of a deep threat specialist, only seems to have deep routes and cut backs in his highlights. He and Mingo I think will climb draft boards due to their size and deep threat ability. I like Cedric Tillman more than others on this board, he's a sure handed, big bodied WR that runs multiple routes and makes contested catches. Just feels like a solid low floor guy. Iosivas is physically gifted with his track speed at 6'3, but doesn't play as fast as he's listed. Still very fast, they use him on some reversals but he looks like a really solid all around WR that flashes some high end speed occasionally. Trey Palmer feels like a similar player with less height, Xavier Hutchinson too but with less speed. Draft feels deep at WR, who else should I watch? How about Odell Beckham Jr!? Does he still interest us, at all?
He's sort of the forgotten man in NFL FA after not being healthy enough for last year's season. I could see us taking a look if we lose JuJu, he'd prob come cheaper too due to injury history and his recent plane stunt. |

Liking Jayden Reed and Jonathan Mingo as a day 2 or 3 projects.
