Colorado trail runner kills mountain lion with bare hands

Rain man? Kirk Mitchell February 14, 2019 at 12:38 pm Categories:Colorado News, Latest News, latest-headlines, News What may be the most sought-after survival story in America today is about to be told by the as-yet-unidentified Colorado runner who recently fought off an attacking mountain lion and choked it to death with his bare hands. So far, only a few things are known about the man. He’s a trail runner. Before the attack, he read up on how to survive a mountain lion attack. He lives in Northern Colorado. He’s in his early 30s. But other details about his background are a mystery. Journalists from across the world have sought a more complete description of the man’s life-and-death struggle with the wild cat on Feb. 4. After recovering physically from bites to his face and body — and mentally, too — he’s offering up what’s being billed as a one-time description of what happened that day on Larimer County’s Horsetooth Mountain. He’s scheduled to give a press conference at 1:15 p.m. The runner will not give any individual interviews following the news conference and half-hour question-and-answer session Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials said. He will then be going on a vacation where he can’t be contacted, according to Rebecca Ferrell, spokeswoman for parks and wildlife |

Soooo it turns out runner guy tangled with a 3-4 month old kitten that went a 24 pounds. This explains why he isn't cat scat and why he was able to kill it. The guy still had a bad day, but 24 pounds is a far cry from the 75 pounds that was initially reported, or a full grown 180-200 pound cat.

That's still not awe-inspiring, but having tangled with my 17-pound Maine Coon a few times when he was in attack mode, it wouldn't be fun to fight a 35 pound cat that's in attack mode. That said, I don't know if a 35-pound cat could really kill me. I suspect it could, but to some extent it would need a lucky shot to an artery or something.
