We should have let them score

Once the Bengals got inside the 5 yard line on that final drive we should have let them score. If I'm not mistaken there was over two minutes left and we had three timeouts. The way our defense was playing and the way the game was being officiated there was no way we were going to stop them. I get trying to hold them to a field goal and all of the goal line stops were impressive, but all that accomplished was letting them run out the clock. With Mahomes I'd rather take my chances with 2 minutes and three timeouts needing a TD to force over time. Watching him stand on the sidelines those final two minutes was frustrating and poor coaching.

I think the thing that killed them was that the Bengals got six downs to keep running the clock down. They stopped the Bengals multiple times on fourth down to send the game into overtime.

They were trying on those first few goal line plays from the one. The worst thing that happened was us stopping them at the half yard line and then getting the first down. I was screaming to let them in on every play inside the two minute warning.

They were a holding call away from stopping them on downs. I never saw the replay on that, I don’t think.

2+ minutes on the clock with multiple timeouts in your pocket. You have a pretty good QB. Strange choice to go for the goal line stand. It ran out the clock. That said, don’t allow 3rd and 27. Don’t treat Chase like a normal receiver the whole game.

Do you trust Mahomes with 2 minutes to score a TD? Or the defense to get 4 stops at the goal line? Do you trust ANY defense that much?

Always go with Mahomes. If we had another QB, I might think differently.

I was too. Then we stuffed them. And stopped them twice on 4th down. 6 downs later, they won the game.

Which is why letting them score is still the right move. We have to rely on stopping them for four downs AND the refs not intervening on any of them. In that situation I'd prefer to trust Patrick every single time.

When Burrow was doing a QB sneak - every lineman should have grabbed him in the pile and pulled him into the end zone. He wasn't trying to score, or you'd have seen the RB/FB come and push the pile.
