Newly discovered full broadcast of SB IV in color

It's fun to watch Chiefs legends in actual play by play scenarios.

Clay if you can upscale the full video to 4K, fix the colours and upload, that would be epic.

Cheers to MatriculatingHank for posting the vid, and jeers to the jerkhat that made it private. I was halfway through the 3rdQ when it stopped.

Second half observations:

The D lines of both teams were great, but KC's D line was dominant. They were all over poor ol' Joe Kapp (sacked 3x, knocked out of the game with a shoulder injury).
Gene Washington was held to only 1 catch.
Junious "Buck" Buchanan (5 solo, 1 sack) is a huge man, and I now see why he went by Buck.
KC's offense slowed the Vikes excellent D line with all of those misdirection plays. KC loves that I shift.
Lenny led an efficient offense on a field of slop. He looked pretty quick on his handoffs, even had a nice scramble towards the end of the game.
That field was horrible, but not a bad as the recent one was for KC and the Eagles in AZ.
Otis Taylor's TD is the stuff of legend. No wonder it gets replayed all the time.
Emmitt Thomas had a huge game with some great tackles and an INT.
Johnny Robinson was unlikely to play, but had an INT and a fumble rec.
I really enjoyed the commentary of Buck and Summerall. They both had an easy-listening relaxing style of play-by-play and color.

Random notes:

Chiefs/Texans were 35-1-1 in games that Johnny Robinson had an INT.
E.J. Holub is the only player in NFL history to start a SB on offense and defense. (LB in SBI, C in SBIV)
Hank Stram got a separate hotel room for Lenny because of the media shitstorm caused by a gambling investigation. President Nixon even called Stram to tell him:
"I know there is nothing to the rumors about Dawson. He shouldn’t be upset by them. Will you please tell him for me.”

It's amazing how many players from this game are in the pro football hall of fame:
Hank Stram
Len Dawson
Bobby Bell
Johnny Robinson
Buck Buchanan
Willie Lanier
Emmitt Thomas
Jan Stenerud
Curley Culp

Vikings PFHOF:
Bud Grant
Paul Krause
Carl Eller
Mick Tinglehoff
Alan Page
Ron Yary

That is definitely worthwhile watch.

I always thought Otis Taylor TD was late in game. I did not realize it was in 3rd quarter and was the next play after a 15 yard personal foul call against Vikings.

I did not see the penalty, I wonder what happened.

Looking at Chiefs offense, you can definitely see the difference in the way the game is played now that OL can use hands while blocking.

Cue jingle.
Hilarious!!

I'm really enjoying the post-game interviews, esp. Frank Gifford talking with Lenny, and Summerall with Johnny Robinson. I could listen to JR talk about football for days.
LD is a great interview, its no surprise he was great in the media. He started the sports director job for KMBC is 1966, so by SB IV he already had a polished TV demeanor.

"The year of the Jets had ended, and the year of the Chiefs has begun."

There is just something about hearing Pat Summerall's voice and you know it was a big game.

A lot of people refer to the Jets victory in SB III as a confirmation that the AFL teams could play with or were as good as the NFL teams.

But, I think our victory in SB IV really made it official in a lot of people's minds at the time, because it proved that SB III wasn't a fluke.

I think SB IV doesn't get it's due in how important it was to solidifying the merger.

Don't forget that the NFL teams came into Super Bowl IV with something to prove after the humiliating loss to the Jets.
