Package Deal with Bienemy and Dorsey?
Sources tell Matt Lombardo of FanSided that Eric Bieniemy and John Dorsey could be a package deal.
The upcoming hiring season should begin in the next few weeks in the NFL as one of several frustrated teams hungry for new leadership will make the first move to hire a new regime. For one team, it could include a reunion of former and current Kansas City Chiefs employees. Matt Lombardo, National NFL columnist for FanSided, has word that former Chiefs general manager John Dorsey and current offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy might make themselves available as a package deal of sorts for a team looking to recreate the stable success of Kansas City. https://arrowheadaddict.com/2020/12/...deal-new-team/ Interesting. So if that is the case Bienemy would be looking for a place with a HC and GM opening.. |

Lets not confuse Scott Pioli with John Dorsey. Dorsey is a good GM, but obviously needs someone to run his cap. His failure in Cleveland was his inability to hire the right head coach. I know this stems from his drafting of Baker Mayfield, but hiring Kitchens was a huge mistake, and worthy of getting fired over. Other than that his eye for talent is excellent. Here are my predictions. 1. I think EB ends up with Houston. I mean an offensive coach with a Watson just makes too much sense. 2. I think Jim Harbaugh returns to the NFL, and becomes the Chargers new head coach. Perfect west coast landing spot for him. 3. I think Dorsey get a sniff, but I don't think he will be able to hire a head coach. He only works in an organization like the Chiefs. Maybe that's Detroit. |

What about Bienemy ending up with the Chargers. Crappy head coach on the hot seat now...Bienemy used to play for them...do the Chiefs have any control on where he goes? Can you imagine Reid and Bienemy going up against each other for the next several years?

I think this rumor is coming from Dorsey and his agent as he wants another shot. |

Now, if another team wanted to hire him as their Offensive Coordinator, the Chiefs can decline, just as they did with Mike Kafka this year. |

One of the GM's biggest jobs is hiring the right head coach. He made a historically bad decision. He's not a good GM. He's a good player personnel guy / scout. He's a terrible GM. |

It is possible to like Veach as our GM while also recognizing that Dorsey played a big role in building the juggernaut of a Chiefs team that we get to watch every week.

Is it possible to say that Dorsey clearly has an eye for talent, but he’s just not GM material after being fired twice?

Dorsey is a good talent evaluator. That's really not in dispute. But when you look at the cap management and his head coaching hire in Cleveland, it's pretty clear he's not a very good GM. There's more to being an NFL GM than just drafting players. That's why teams have personnel people and scouts underneath the GM. |

Maybe, although I just feel like there are a lot worse GMs than Dorsey out there with jobs right now. Now if I'm hiring, I'm wanting somebody who could be great, and probably wouldn't at this point be willing to overlook his flaws. Still traded up for Mahomes though so I love him.

It doesn't "help" EB at all. He's going to get legit offers with or without Dorsey.
