Now I'm mostly wondering what cdcox must have done to get into Direckshun's head so badly for one incredibly innocent post.

Yeah, and if I remember correctly, Colquitt was pretty salty when he was replaced by Townsend. Also, can anyone think of one other instance ever on any other team where the holder has been THE problem? I’ve never heard of a kicker sucking and so the team cuts/changes the holder and says “that was why our kicker was shit.”

pretty sure I read or heard a few weeks later that they'd changed holders. The other one was decades ago, but i think that holder was just having trouble catching the ball cleanly. He got replaced by the backup QB.

But the discussion is interesting. Butker is having a really off year. And while folks are quick to point out the injury, it doesn't make sense as to why Andy would then trust him to hit make or break 55 yard and 51 yard field goals in the span of 3 weeks. Something feels wonky about all of it. |

When the operation is clicking, Winchester tries to deliver the ball to the holder with laces at a specific orientation.
The missed PAT looked like Butker's follow through was very different from what he usually does. The missed FG camera view was from behind, so not easy to compare. The operation needs to practice and get ready. Supposed to be arctic cold next Saturday versus Seahawks. Today, I had the least confidence that I have ever had for a important Butker kick. I would have been more surprised if he had made it than I was disappointed he missed. Game was tied, so I was not that worried. Chiefs could have tried to get more yards with the time they had. Chiefs should have played it like Chiefs were down 1 or 2 points and needed the FG not to lose.

He may sound salty but he complimented tommy as a punter. He’s not begging for him to get cut. He just doesn’t think he’s a good holder.
Man, colquitt was an excellent punter but he was also an outstanding holder. So many times he bailed out some really awful snaps with a stellar hold |

I'm a total sucker for Colquitt though. There was a LONG DARK time when the punting unit was the only unit executing. |

So I just watched about 20 kicks from Colquitt's final season, and it's nearly impossible from some angles and distances to see exactly which direction the laces are pointed, except that they are never on the back side of the ball. But the angle is consistent, depending on which hash it's on or in the middle.
Generally, the ball appears slightly tilted to the right when facing the uprights POV on the right hash. In the middle or on the left hash it appears to be essentially vertical, sometimes with a tiny cant to the left. This makes some sense, as that tilt to the right would put a little more contact area on the ball, which should create a little draw. I think anyway. I was a soccer player, not a PK. But if you want to bend the ball in soccer it's all about contact area and impact angle. Also never noticed it before that much, but Winchester can sometimes be a little inaccurate with his snaps. Colquitt was a hell of a catcher.
