Shady car dealership practices....

I recently purchased a used car from a dealership, which included a trade-in. Everything seemed to have gone well until about a week afterwards. I got a letter in the mail from the credit union the dealer used to finance the loan and it said I was denied because the "Term requested exceeds limits." They counter offered with a 48 mo loan instead of a 60.

I also noticed in the contract that they slipped in $400 extra in dealership fees. Needless to say I was pissed I didn't notice it before signing, especially considering I believe it was added in the final contract and not the ones I looked at before.

Long story short, could I play hardball and tell them to take out the fees or I'll return the car to them and cancel the deal because the financing fell through? Seems they would be out a lot of time and effort over $400, not to mention the dealership is a three hour drive from here and, from what I have read, the onus is on them to rectify the financing situation.

Perhaps someone who has been in the industry can provide me some feedback. Thanks.

Here is a picture of the contract and the "added" fees. Basically, they put $631.50 over the advertised 249.00.

I suppose you could dispute it in another fashion - others will know more than me, on here.

Usually you can only get a 72 month lease if the price is over a set limit and/or age is under a limit. The dealer should know that limit before giving you an offer if it's the financer they normally use.

Bought a Murano from a nearby dealership (Pinnacle Nissan) and the car had a scrape on the interior of the door. Made sure the dealership would replace the door panel; they agreed and put it in writing.

Every time I tried to make an appointment to have the panel replaced, somebody always dropped the ball..."sorry man, not here yet...oh look, not ordered...this will take about 3 weeks to come from the manufacturer". Long story short, they pushed me past the 30 days on the contract to have the work done.

Wrote a letter with documentation to the sales manager...then the general manager...and nothing. So stupid. I had bought 2 other cars from them previously and they treated me this way. I've bagged on them on dozens of time; they ran ads on FaceBook where I nailed them and elsewhere. I quite certain I've cost them at least one sale...so stupid of them.

I have never seen an expiration date on a "We Owe" from a dealership.

I was given a loaner car while a Blue Springs Nissan "We Owe" was installed on my Altima SR coupe and they refused my money after one of the center caps went missing because I drove it like I stole it over the 4th of July holiday

Remember the cute blond girl bending over to show you the "BLUE" coil springs in the commercials back in the 90's?

LOL you idiot, EVERY SINGLE ONE has a 30 day expiration! Most of the time, in an effort to keep a customer happy, a dealer still honors it. But they are NOT required to.

Not many that have been at it over 30 years. Nor many that have been salesman, Finance Manager, Asst Sales Manager, Sales Manager, and General Sales Manager.

Years ago as a teenager with my dad shopping for a car in a used car lot a pickup had on the window "RUNS GOOD" great we thought check it out.

Out comes the salesman saying "Rens good Rens good!" hands me the key I get in and turn the ignition and . . . nothing, doesn't start must be a dead battery but we weren't buying from that guy

When I saw "We Owe" slips they were like P.O>'s there was no legal ease included... Now it's all about the payout on the sale.....

Not many that have been at it over 30 years. Nor many that have been salesman, Finance Manager, Asst Sales Manager, Sales Manager, and General Sales Manager.
At least the F+I guys let you know they are bending you over before they do it....

I owned a business where I dealt with the Asst Sales Managers, Sales Managers, and General Sales Managers, and Dealer Principals, as Van Tuyl used to call them. I used to call on every dealer in the KC Metro area.

I have been away for many years but, in the car biz, some things stay the same. Selling wholesalers on the corner of 75th and Metcalf on Sundays comes to mind.....

When I made my latest purchase they threw in an extended warranty that didn't kick in until after the factory warranty. It was part of the deal. They wouldn't come down to where I was on price so they gave me that. It's cancellable until it kicks in.

I didnt need it, won't have it that long.

So I waited the correct amount of time to cancel it and called to get my money back.

The dealer had beaten me to it. It had already been cancelled.

Imo that's stealing so I called and threw a fit. It was A "computer error" and it got reinstated and i got the money.

How many people buy those and the dealer voids them and keeps the money and they forget about the policy bythe time they need it, or get rid of it before the warranty kicks in?
