NFT: If you have up to $45k to spend on the next car

Got hit this last week and may have the current vehicle totaled out, which isn't a bad thing since I'm pretty well above water on the loan/value ratio.

So, while I'm waiting to find out if we go the "totaled" route, I would need to move fast on the next vehicle.

Desired Specs
4-5 seater
4 door
Fast (300+ hp)
Looks cool
Car or SUV, not a Truck or Van

Bells/Whistles
Air Conditioned/Cooling seats (it's hot in TX)
Backup Camera
Decent interface/console

Age
Ideally not "Brand New" so I don't eat the cost driving off the lot
If 4-5 years old, then the vehicle better be worth it

Cost
Top end of budget is $45k
Can also be lower for the right car, as it would reduce current car payments

Since this happened out of the blue, what should be on my radar?

Any love for an SUV? You said you don't drive much but sit in it for over an hour a day. I feel like an SUV would be comfy as hell in traffic.

I've had a boner for a Tahoe forever, so that's my official recommendation. They're ridiculously overpriced new, but maybe a three year old ride might fit what you're looking for?

Of course you have love for an SUV. I r smerrt.

If I was going to blow $45K per your specs above, Dante84, and you have already gone down the Cayenne route and you appear to really like the Cayenne outside of maintenance $, why not pull the trigger on a used Jeep Cherokee SRT8 with a Hemi?

It's going to get really crappy gas mileage, but bang-for-the-buck, kinda hard to pass up, no? Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Dodge shoe-horn a Hemi V8 into a Dodge Durango too--talk about cheap thrills!

I test drove this Saturday afternoon.

Immaculate, fast and drives like a dream. Plus you save yourself around $30K

Even with the reputation of being a sissy model Porsche, the body design was fantastic... especially coming from the 80's.

I've always loved that car.

You're probably thinking of a 944. Mines a 951 Turbo...the nose panel is different. A lot of people called them 944 Turbos but they are technically 951. It was nearly twice as expensive as original 944s and had 100 more HP with heavier suspension/brakes.. It was faster than the 911s of the same year...Porsche tried to downplay that fact.

I had a 944 too...fun cars...literally a go-kart but very under-powered.

Cars are crazy good handling...won best in the world from Car and Driver. 49/51 weight balance. Porsche knocked it out of the park...

Yep, I was thinking of the 944.

I actually knew about the 951, but couldn't remember what was different. I was hoping I wasn't wrong with my post, but I was. DAMNIT!

I had posted earlier about the Alfa Romeo Giulia but you didn't want a 4 cylinder even though it was 280 hp.

I haven't seen anyone mention Lexus. Here's a 2018 Lexus ES 350. This particular one is in Tampa, 4000 miles and it's $34,900 and it's 6 cylinder.

If you like an SUV, there's the RX 350 FWD. This is a 2018 with 4400 miles and it's $39,800. Go back a year or two and a few more miles and you're in the $25 - $30 range.

Here's where I'm at currently:
- 2015-newer Cayenne
- 2015-newer Macan
- 2014-newer CTS-V
- Jeep GC SRT8 (intriguing but need to research - after 50k has issues i hear)
- F-Pace - Cool looking but not too sure on them
- Tesla Model S (intriguing but need to research - better models are super pricey)

Leaning more towards lux, mid-size SUV but open to a cooler sedan.

Here's a trick question because I know this won't fit your requirements. I once owned one of these for four years and if I hadn't of bought a new car last year, I might buy another one of these. This is a brand new 2020 car, that has a 6 speed manual transmission with a 201HP Turbo and sells for $23,185. Any idea what it is?

2020 Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec 201 HP for $23,185

For a little more money, there is the 2020 Hyundai Veloster N, 250 HP for $27,300.

Porsche Cayenne S

I bought mine for 14k and have put almost 100k on it. It has been bulletproof. Turbo is awesome too, 500 hp. You can find them with low miles.

Yep, I have a 2012 Turbo with all the bells & whistles (panoramic roof, AC seats, alcantara, logo headrests, red calipers, etc...) and it has been a blast, except for the maintenance.

It's held its value really well, considering, and I was shocked at what they'd give me for the total-out.

I'm now debating just finding the newer version, or finding something else, hence the thread.

Maintenance is spendy but I have had no real issues. I will drive this one until the wheels fall off and part it out. You are not going to find something else that cool in SUVs that I am aware of. They have been so popular the price has stayed down. How many miles do you have on yours? Any issues with the turbo?

Just hit 80k. No issues with the Turbo.

Issues with sensors crapping out have been really the only issue. Engine Temp sensor scared the shit out of me right after buying it, but it was just the sensor. The tire sensors have begun going out and needing replacement, and then spark plugs and tires.

It's been a lot in just a few years of ownership, but all routine maintenance.

I’ve owned both the V and SRT, both great. The Macan is the new soccer mom mobile, everyone owns a Tesla and the F-Pace is a Jag, just no. I’m telling you go drive the M5, in that price range it’s great money.

Haven't done research on this model...but here's a 2015 BMW X5 M series SUV.

56K...$32,000

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2015-BMW-X5...EAAOSwUDldRdGB

Nevermind...it looks like it's not a real "M" series. I didn't see the "M" badge on the back...just on the steering wheel.
