Sugar bowl should be a good match up. Cats have nothing to lose. And Alabama has to work to not get embarrassed by a lowly Big 12 team.

I think the committee got it right. I think 'Bama would beat TCU but I don't think it matters - TCU has a better resume this season and earned their way in.

What you did on the field should matter far more than what you COULD do. It may make a slightly less compelling R1 matchup, but who cares? TCU deserved their spot.

I'll take K-st.
Nick's starting to look old and tired. His staff needs a complete overhaul if he plans on hanging with Georgia.

Edit// I should toss LSU in there as well. Think they're going places Bama can't with current staff

Yeah, there's typically a team that 'deserves' to get raped, and another team with a loss or two that would probably be in any game they play... hopefully TCU can make a game of it, but glad it's someone different every once in a while.

We're all just living in Georgia's world this season though... not sure it would have mattered much anyway.

How often has 'Bama needed any help over the last 20 years?

I believe when I looked it up, Saban, since he came to Alabama, has NEVER had a single freshman recruiting class where a player who stayed all 4 years wouldn't have won a national championship.

Bama gets in because they're incredible.

This year they weren't and they didn't make it.

My memory is that the only year a team got in on pure potential was actually Ohio State and they won the damn thing.

Like 6 years ago maybe?

They had a bad loss late (Wisconsin in the B10 championship?) and had a lesser resume than one of the teams that they kept off the 4 line. Then they rolled in the playoffs, IIRC.

That was the year that big fat backup was slinging the ball all over the place, left early and promptly vanished.

Glad to see Bama get left out of the playoff. I’m happy to be wrong about that one.

Yeah I do think if TCU was Texas or Oklahoma this wouldn't have even been a question. The SEC is always super strong but it felt like people were still arguing as if TCU was in a small conference. TCU has multiple top 25 wins in a legit conference, beat Texas worse than Alabama did, and Alabama has losses to Tennessee and LSU, teams who both later got blown out. LSU just got handled by Georgia. You start picking it apart and it's hard to get an argument for Alabama other than they have a bunch of NFL players.

It was fun watching Saban spend all night doing every thing in his power to try and and avoid the KState buzzsaw.

Cardale Jones, right?

Wasn’t he also third string behind Braxton Miller and JT Barrett?

EDIT: Man, I screwed that all up.

Ohio State POUNDED Wisconsin in the B10 Championship so the CFP voters moved them ahead of TCU when TCU didn't play a conf championship game and had a far better loss than Ohio State had.

But the voters leapfrogged them anyway because of how dominant they were over Wisconsin.

TN had Hendon Hooker when Alabama lost to them. And LSU was hot/cold all year.

It's not the losses that bothers me for 'Bama here. Those are good losses. It's the complete lack of high-end wins. They simply don't have one. Most years they'll have a couple of top 10 wins in there and this year they just don't.

I don't think they have an argument at all.

Yeah, you would almost think that was a B1G conspiracy with how Wisconsin rolled over... wasn't it like 56-0 or something?

Agreed. Outside of a surprisingly close game against Mizzou of all teams, Georgia seems head and toes better than everyone else this year.
