The Kansas City Chiefs and 31 other NFL teams were busy scouting the annual East-West Shrine Game and Senior Bowl over the past two weeks, and in the process they had a chance to meet with several players of interest in each game.

Many of those visits were reported by various outlets, and in this feature we have a look at some of the names of note as well as some info on each player.

The college all-star games are an early step in the predraft process, which will continue to run through April. The visits and discussions teams have with players at those games are one of multiple opportunities they'll have to meet with prospects of interest.

Other meetings will take place during the NFL Scouting Combine, college Pro Days, and during the "Top 30" visits, which refers to the 30 visits teams are allowed by the NFL where they can bring prospects to their facilities for interviews.

So, the list of players here will most certainly grow in the months to come. Here's a look at some of the prospects the Chiefs have visited with so far.

NASIR ADDERLEY, S, DELAWARE (6-0, 200, SR.) (SENIOR BOWL)



Adderley, who is projected as a second-round pick and has even popped up in some mock drafts as a late first-round pick, is a cousin of Pro Football Hall of Fame safety Herb Adderley. He had 48 tackles and three interceptions as a senior and ten interceptions on his career. Adderley wound up at the University of Delaware in part due to academic issues keeping some of the bigger college programs away. “It was a frustrating time for me,’’ Adderley said, per the New York Post. “My mom sat down with me and told me ‘This is what happens when you don’t do what you are supposed to do.’ I learned my lesson, for sure.” (Visit reported by WalterFootball.com)


OTARO ALAKA, OLB, TEXAS A&M (6-2, 240, SR.) (SENIOR BOWL)



Alaka had 276 tackles, 40 tackles for loss and 11 sacks while at Texas A&M, including 79 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and four sacks as a senior. "Otaro Alaka is a physically-imposing linebacker prospect who fits the mold of a traditional SAM ‘backer," wrote Jon Ledyard of The Draft Network. "Likely a two-down player unless he continues to make strides as a rusher, Alaka will bring the fire every single snap, but simply isn’t talented or instinctive enough to do more than maximize his average traits." DERRICK BAITY, CB, KENTUCKY (6-3, 188, SR.) (EAST-WEST SHRINE GAME)



Totaled 148 tackles, six tackles for loss, six interceptions, and 25 passes defensed in four seasons at Kentucky. WalterFootball.com ranks Baity as the No. 33 cornerback in the draft with a Round 4-6 projection, saying, "He was solid for Kentucky, but faces some coverage limitations for the NFL. Baity put together a decent week of practice at the East-West Shrine. He has good size but problems in terms of speed and athleticism." (WalterFootball.com)

KRIS BOYD, CB, TEXAS (6-0, 195, SR.) (SENIOR BOWL)



Boyd had 191 tackles, six tackles for loss, four interceptions, and 40 passes defensed in four seasons at the University of Texas. The Draft Network calls Boyd "A physical cornerback with plenty of experience (32 starts) and a competitive streak that will go a long way with coaches" and says "Boyd has minimal upside, but could be an average starter in a zone-heavy scheme in the NFL." BLACE BROWN, CB, TROY (6-0, 191, SR.) (EAST-WEST SHRINE GAME)



Brown had 111 tackles, 12 interceptions and two tackles for loss in four seasons at Troy. He had six interceptions as a sophomore and five as a junior, which won him first-team All-Sun Belt honors, but his 2017 season came to an end after tearing his ACL late in the year against Arkansas State. Brown bounced back for a third-team All-Sun Belt showing in 2018 with 44 tackles and one interception. (WalterFootball.com)

TE’VON CONEY, ILB, NOTRE DAME (6-0, 240, SR.) (SENIOR BOWL)



Coney finished his career at Notre Dame with 314 tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks. He surpassed 100 tackles in each of the past two seasons with a career high of 123 as a senior in 2018 with 9.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. He could come off the board sometime in Rounds 2 or 3. JOE DINEEN JR., ILB, KANSAS (6-2, 235, SR.) (EAST-WEST SHRINE GAME)



Dineen was a prolific tackler in his four seasons at Kansas, totaling 386 tackles, 45.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. He made 147 tackles as a senior in 2018 while totaling 11 tackles for loss and three sacks. WalterFootball.com ranks him as the No. 21 inside linebacker prospect in the draft and projects him as a late-round pick or undrafted free agent. (WalterFootball.com)

RASHAD FENTON, CB, SOUTH CAROLINA (5-11, 188, SR.) (EAST-WEST SHRINE GAME)



Fenton, who first saw time as a starter during his sophomore season, finished his career with 122 tackles, five interceptions, five tackles for loss, and 24 passes defensed. The Draft Network says, "For Fenton to carve out an NFL role, he will need to become a more consistent processor and tackler while continuing to thrive in press coverage and allowing his physical gifts to mirror in man coverage." JAYLON FERGUSON, DE, LOUISIANA TECH (6-4, 256, SR.)



Ferguson is a pass-rushing specialist who set the all-time NCAA FBS record for career sacks in 2018 with 45, breaking a mark previously held by Terrell Suggs. He was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year and an AP third-team All-American in 2018 after racking up 38 tackles, 17.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. He projects as a late-first-to-second-round pick. (Connor Livesay/Blogging The Boys)

CARL GRANDERSON, DE, WYOMING (6-5, 261, SR.) (SENIOR BOWL)



Granderson as of January was projected as a late Day 2 or early Day 3 prospect who could rise higher with a good predraft showing. He has an injury history (torn ACL in 2016) but rebounded to total 77 tackles, 9.5 sacks and 16 tackles for loss as a junior in 2017 and 40 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and three sacks as a senior in 2018. Granderson was a first-team All-Mountain West selection in 2017. (WalterFootball.com)

TRACE MCSORLEY, QB, PENN STATE



McSorley was a well-known star at Penn State, where he broke school records for wins (31), completions (703), passing yards (9,653), passing touchdowns (75), and total offense (11,275). He also rushed for 1,697 yards on 473 carries with 30 touchdowns. McSorley is a three-time second-team All-Big Ten selecction, with career highs of 3,614 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2016. As a senior he threw for 2,530 yards, 18 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while rushing for 798 yards and 12 touchdowns. DONTAVIUS RUSSELL, DT/NT, AUBURN (SENIOR BOWL)



Russell started 49 of 52 games at Auburn, finishing his career with 153 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and six sacks. He was selected as a third-team All-SEC performer as a senior by coaches and media. "A four-year starter for Auburn, Russell has value to NFL teams in search of a run stopping specialist," The Draft Network says of Russell. "He is a powerful and stout run defender that does well to control blocks at the point of attack. With that said, his lack of length and athleticism limits his ability to finish." DAVID SILLS, WR, WEST VIRGINIA (6-4, 209, SR.) (SENIOR BOWL)



Sills made headlines in junior high when he was offered a scholarship to play quarterback at USC (which he accepted) by then-head coach Lane Kiffin. He eventually wound up choosing West Virginia instead, where he was moved to receiver as a freshman. Sills had 132 catches for 2097 yards and 35 touchdowns at West Virginia, with all but two of those touchdowns coming the past two seasons. WalterFootball.com rates him as the draft's No. 10 receiver prospect, saying, "He is a big receiver who is a jump-ball, 50-50 target, but he will struggle to separate in the NFL." OSHANE XIMINES, DE/OLB, OLD DOMINION (6-3, 255, SR.) (SENIOR BOWL)



Ximines finished his career at Old Dominion with 176 tackles, 51.5 tackles for loss, 33 sacks, and 11 forced fumbles. As a senior, Ximines had 58 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. The Draft Network says, "A hustler with strong production and an elite name, Oshane Ximines has some fun rush moves in his repertoire and will bring the fight to everyone, which should make him a helpful NFL contributor. Unfortunately I’m not sure the explosiveness, bend or flexibility is there for a much higher ceiling at the next level, although the Senior Bowl and Combine will be helpful for determining how good he can be." BTW, sorry to promote WalterFootball in any way. (Among their gaffes & unexplained bias against KC, they called Tyreek the worst pick of the 5th round after he was drafted.)

I'm a safety guy. It will always be the position I'm obsessed with on the defense, even though obviously pass rushers are more valuable.

Adderley is EXACTLY the kind of guy we need to replace Eric Berry, IMHO. He has a nice all-around skill set and can play a lot of different roles.

Do you think they were talking to McSorley about a position change (WR maybe?)? I don't see that guy as a legit NFL QB but he is athletically talented.

He's a pretty smart guy and plays clutch at times. I imagine he's a practice squad/scout team guy at first. He's a guy you could see being a backup QB in the league for over a decade honestly.
