Push button start cars and cold weather

I am going to ramble through this.

It is going to be cold. ****ing Cold.
New cars have a push button start-will they always start???
How to you "crank them" if they do not right away.
Fewer cars have heat plugs today. Was told they are not really needed.

Just want my wifes car to be ok since she has to work tomorrow.
My truck still has a key and remote start.. I have to go in even though school was closed.

That's what I would think...maybe once you've been out of it a few years you don't appreciate what cold really was...but I run across it all the time but they are people who've been here a while.

I can tell you this:

After living here all my life, if I moved to AZ, I'd have zero tolerance for the cold anymore, simply because I don't have to tolerate anymore.

Not sure I'd be wearing layers when it's 69 degrees but damned if I'd ever subject myself to freezing temps again willingly.

My folks lived in Fairbanks for a few years. The first time I visited them, it was mid-April. I got up there and it was sunny and 10 degrees. I was freezing my ass off but most of the people we came across were lightly dressed and talking about how warm it was.

On the reverse side of that--I will never live in Fla, Tx, ALA, etc. too damn hot.

But those of us from the Upper Midwest can adapt a hell of lot faster than others.

We have it all. Sun, humidity, cold, dry, rain, drought.

Clothes, mechanics and toys for all seasons. One has to be hardy ( or crazy) to live here.
Think if the Super Bowl was in MPLS this week. California ice cicles.

It's the only place on earth where you can get Canadian weather and Mexican weather in back to back days!

Sometimes the same day.
45 degrees north latitude. We get it all.

This year I wore my fall jacket until Dec 30. Even though we have had snow. We finally have winter. Many snows have been in southern Minnesota/northern Iowa.

This. The first rental I had with this left me searching for a way to disable it.

Yeah, Bob. This is why I didn't want to move there.
Heh. My boss just texted and said it's -55°F wind chill where he's out and supposed to -65 tomorrow.

Cool. It's mid-40's and sunny here.

I get somewhat of a winter here, just not to the extreme of the midwest, which probably helped with going back to Arrowhead last weekend. The mornings can get down into the 20s for a few months and I'll still just wear a fairly light jacket.

What really got me, and within a matter of only ~6 months after moving, was acclimating to the dryness.... first time back in KC, late May a couple years ago... "only" ~60-70% humidity, and it bugged the shit out of me the entire time, outside and inside.

A University of Minnesota student crossed University Avenue in shorts Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019. He wouldn't give his name because he said his mom would be mad at him.

Businesses are closing early tonight and some for tomorrow. Exhaust from cars is flash freezing on the roads causing black ice.

They closed universities all over our region today and they'll stay closed tomorrow. If a college student can't be trusted to go from their dorm to class without dying or getting frostbite that generation is ****ed.
