Pretty sure Butera hit under .200 for his career prior to 2016. He got a lot better at the plate.
I'm not saying O'Brien will take that next step, only that we shouldn't be surprised if something does end up clicking for him. With that power, even hitting .230 makes him a decent bench guy. |

I stated this earlier when we traded for him, but it's worth repeating. Peter O'Brien was completely mismanaged by Chump Hale last year. I've never seen a young player set up to fail like he was. He definitely must have gone anal on Chump's wife or something. A change of scenery and a new manager may yield significantly better results. So far, so good

Yeah, the DBacks did a horrible job with O'Brien, and I think he's good depth and an intriguing option for KC moving forward.
If Moss sucks or one of Gordon/Hosmer/Moss/Soler gets hurt, O'Brien could be a really nice complement to the roster in the meantime. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My entirely-too-early-and-way-too-Optimistic-based-off-sample-sizes 25-man prediction for opening day.
Rotation Danny Duffy Jason Hammel Nathan Karns Ian Kennedy Jason Vargas Bullpen Chris Young Travis Wood Matt Strahm Joakim Soria Mike Minor Scott Alexander Kelvin Herrera Catchers Salvador Perez Drew Butera Infielders Mike Moustakas Eric Hosmer "They're still shitty" Escobar Whit Merrifield Hunter Dozier Outfielders Billy "Country Snack" Burns Lo Cain Alex Gordon Brandon Moss Jorge Soler Peter O'Brien We'll go with a short infield for a bit to see if we can catch lightning in a bottle (ala Whit last year) with PO'B and Hunter Dozier. ** When Brian "the Roofer" Flynn comes back then we see one of the bullpen guys that is not performing out of Minor\Alexander go back down or get released.

I don't see O'Brien or Dozier on the opening day roster. Probably Cuthbert with Moose coming along so slowly.

Aside from a trade, Cuthbert is a lock to make the roster

I actually contemplated leaving Hosmer off the roster as a projected trade... I guess i can't go half in with leaving Colon\Cuthbert off and not include Hosmer. Colon will probably be DFA'd, yes.

Looks like Dozier has played 1B, 3B (2), and RF so far this spring.
What's KC's long term plan for this guy? |
