Chiefs:

Adetomiwa Adebawore, Edge, Northwestern

Based on the defenders the Chiefs have targeted in previous drafts, they highly covet prospects who can generate consistent pressure. Watch Adebawore's performance against Ohio State from last season and you'll see he's capable of that. That game film is what scouts and evaluators bring up when mentioning why he'll be a first-round pick. He didn't have a sack, but he was really solid. Add on running a 4.49-second 40-yard dash at 6-2, 282 pounds, and Adebawore is a unique player who would be a welcome addition to an ascending defense. Adding him to play with George Karlaftis, a first-round pick last season, and recently signed Charles Omenihu would give Kansas City three options off the edge who all are physical run defenders too.

63. Kansas City Chiefs
Gervon Dexter, IDL, Florida

This means the Chiefs are going defensive line with both of their first two picks, as I gave them Adetomiwa Adebawore in Round 1. At 6-6, 310 pounds, Dexter is a towering presence on the inside who would make for an explosive running mate alongside Chris Jones. He fits the Kansas City system well.

95. Kansas City Chiefs
A.T. Perry, WR, Wake Forest

The Chiefs, fresh off a Super Bowl without having a receiver with 1,000 receiving yards, should be searching for targets to add on the perimeter. Perry is a 6-3 receiver who had 81 catches for 1,096 yards and 11 scores last season. Four of those touchdowns came when he was lined up in the slot.

122. Kansas City Chiefs (from MIA): Roschon Johnson, RB, Texas

134. Kansas City Chiefs: Wanya Morris, OT, Oklahoma

166. Kansas City Chiefs: Demarcco Hellams, S, Alabama

178. Kansas City Chiefs (from CHI/MIA): Jay Ward, CB, LSU

217. Kansas City Chiefs*: Shaq Davis, WR South Carolina State

218. Kansas City Chiefs (from CHI/MIA): Will Mallory, TE, Miami

249. Kansas City Chiefs: Dee Winters, LB, TCU

250. Kansas City Chiefs*: Chamarri Conner, S, Virginia Tech

I think Perry is my least favorite of the top picks and I don’t hate that.

I like this draft, except for selecting Gervon Dexter and Adebawore. I'd rather have Foskey/Benton if they are still available. For Dexter, I just see him lack any sort of urgency in getting off on the snap. Watch his highlights and see how slow he is rushing the passer on obvious 3rd and long situations. He's always the last one to react. I'm sure that could be corrected with training, but I don't want to spend a 2nd round pick on him, plus as DJ's Left Nut stated, I don't think slots in next to Chris Jones in our 4-3 defense. We need a Mazi Smith or Benton or Siaki Ika there. If we got Dexter with a 4th I'd be pretty happy.

As far as Foskey vs Adebawore, it's completely a personal preference. If we drafted Adebawore I wouldnt be outraged, but I think Foskey is a better and more productive prospect. Adebawore is a better athlete, but with Foskey being a couple inches taller and having amazing college production, he's definitely my preferred realistic DE in this draft.

Good takes! In this draft Benton and Mazi were both gone by our 2nd rd pick, Siaki went 3 picks later.

If I were going to take different early picks, I'd probably go Mazi Smith in the 1st and Tuli Tuipuloto in the 2nd.

I'd like it if KC would be able to grab Fehoko at some point.

Adeboware is so hard to judge. They moved him all over the DL so it is hard to gauge his productivity against guys who were lined wide and asked to get the QB every play.
His senior bowl week was exceptional, but I always get a little twinge from Vernon Gholston guys.

Rochon Johnson looks very solid.
He's a former QB with good size and good hands.

The Chiefs almost certainly love him.

I will continue to pound the table for DL in the first round.

And while DT would be a decent pick if the right player was there, they really should focus on DE.

At this time last year, the DE position was a really big problem. They had Clark and Danna and nothing else.

They made a big step towards that by bringing Karlaftis on, a guy who could take every snap immediately, which they badly needed. Now they've added Omenihu and now they suddenly have three guys who are all good edges who can rotate inside on passing downs.

If you add one more, then your position is fool proof. A DE position with two first round ends, Omenihu, and Mike Danna is a remarkable upgrade in just a year's time. Danna will be a free agent next year and while Spags probably worships the ground Danna walks on, I'm not sure he makes sense as a re-sign. So we'd be able to walk into next year's draft starting with two 1st round picks in Karlaftis and whomever 2024 gives us, and Omenihu.

This is how Super Bowl defenses get built. I want them to go EDGE in the first.

This all of this. Theres a few Chris Jones outliers through history but for the most part I want edge. Quality rushers on the outside can still be productive even when you have average interior play. Especially when you have guys you can move in and out. Karlaftis and Omenihu can move inside for rush downs. I'd be fine if they went after true edge guys for when they are.
