Chiefs have done quite well just picking good football players like Creed Humphrey and Nick Bolton recently.

Derrick Nnadi's money is guaranteed so he probably makes roster or Chiefs trade him before season starts.

Yes we could cut him for $1.092,500 but it would be kind of a waste.

He’s been on our roster more than 4 years so his minimal cap hit probably doesn’t even count against the cap due to that thing they added at the last CBA.

Don’t you get to use it on 2 players per year? Or just 1?

It’s a limited amount that you can split up on two people. They used it all on Allegretti’s contract.

I've seen some other people put that info in a CP Derrick Nnadi thread. But as Franchise stated, all of the money for Veteran Salary Benefit bonus money for a four-year player was used on Nick Allegretti (see Nick's contract info). The $1,092,500 money that is shown for Derrick Nnadi is what counts against the Chief's cap.

If you look at a contract and see a bonus of $152,500 that is another type of VSB that is available for qualifying players where that bonus does not count against the cap. The bonus amount will go up accordingly - $167,500 for the 2024–25 League Years, to $187,500 for the 2026–27 League Years, to $207,500 for the 2028–29 League Years and to $227,500 for the 2030 League Year.

If you want more detail, please see - https://overthecap.com/collective-ba...ent/article/27

I think Section 7 (b) talks about the dollar amount that was used for the Nick Allegretti contract.

How much do we need to sign our 10 or so from the draft 10mil+ ? They are going to have to extend restructure someone already .

The draft values are slotted, but for each new signing there is also about a million falling off the cap due to only the top 51 contracts counting against the cap. So the 3 million per year or so it costs for the 31st pick actually is about 2.2 in negative cap. Anyone later than the third is essentially free against the cap.

What I'd have to answer before I got excited about him was what happened at LSU?

Hyatt was a 1-year wonder but he was behind Tillman and Velus Jones who I think are high quality prospects/players in their own right in previous years. But Palmer was behind pretty much trash at LSU last season and did nothing then transferred out.

Was that competition level? Was there something in the system that kept him from producing? Does that something exist in KC as well?

I'm nowhere close to calling him a 2nd rounder but in the 4th you could have something there if you haven't gone WR already.
He came to Nebraska with Mickey Joseph who was the WR coach at LSU. Same guy that recruited all of the dudes tearing up the NFL from LSU right now. He played behind them at LSU for the most part. LSU was pretty much a train wreck his last season there, but I don't follow LSU enough to know why. Then he moved to Nebraska with his coach.

There were many issues with the Nebraska coaching staff this year, which everyone knows about.

But for 4 of the last 5 games of the year, there were major problems at the QB position too. Thompson got hurt. Purdy and Smothers shared the QBing job. Neither did well.

Over those 4 games (Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin), Palmer caught 15 balls for 97 yards. 4 for 47 against Wisconsin on Thompson’s first game back while Thompson was not 100% healthy. Add to that Nebraska only played 12 games instead of 13 or more like many of the top teams. And Palmer was still close to the top of the receiving lists in college football.

I hope this helps some. And here are the Nebraska stats:
