Which QB is better: Dak Prescott or Lamar Jackson?

Was just talking about this with coworkers.

Most agreed Dak overall was better. Both will be looking to get paid soon.

Who’s the better QB?

I think Russell is awesome. The most interesting deal though is that Seattle front office has given him a fairly tough negotiation on both of his contracts, and they wanted to draft Mahomes to replace Russ. They have a good eye for QB talent. It’s just crazy to me that they were looking to move on from Russ right as he entered his prime years.

When I think of Jason Garrett 'overrated' would be one of the absolute last words I'd come up with. Dude is mostly known for clapping and Jerry Jones being too stubborn to fire him.

Garrett had that one monster year as OC under Wade Phillips. He interviewed for like 8 HC jobs that offseason but ultimately Jerry paid him a shitload of money to stay on. Then Wade got fired and Garrett took over. Jerry never looked back.

Peyton Manning was drafted in 1998 and didn't win his first playoff game until 2003.

Give Jackson a little more time until we consider the book on him written..

I’ll go ahead and say it.

Lamar is kind of dumb. 13 on his wonderlic? Yeah, the wonderlic is bullshit, but you in general want your QB’s score to be comfortably distant from Vince ****ing Young.

It’s not about the work or the effort either. He clearly puts in the grind, and I’ll bet it’s the same for him when in the film room. But I imagine it’s a lot tougher for him to study and learn this shit than it is for somebody like Mahomes, who scored in the mid 20s.

Again, I’m not saying the higher the score the better. Only that when you play QB, there probably exists a learning threshold where if you drop below... well, it’s going to be more difficult for you

Dak every day...

If the Cowboys defense could stop anyone, they'd be 3-0.
In the end Dak will be viewed as the better QB by all. Once Lamars legs slow down its over.

I still applaud how the Ravens tailored their offense around his strengths, but it feels like they have to control the game and play their game and if they cant they lose. Its got to be tough when you have to alter your game plan once your behind, but your QB cant pass.

I'd take Jackson over Prescott in a heart beat. If you want an 8-8 team then pick Dak, but I'm looking for "wins" with lessor talent around the qb. So, it's easy for me even though Jackson doesn't come across as the brightest candle on the cake, nor does he have the arm talent as Dak, but he has a higher ceiling over Dak.

Let's do the team flip for Dak and Jackson. Lamar is now a Cowboy with that line and weapons, and Dak is a Crow with their line and weapons. Who has more success as a QB?

I hate to point to any sort of test to measure intelligence. It’s just so arbitrary and I feel like intelligence is too broad to be so easily defined.

Jackson scored a 13 which isn’t good but Dan Marino scored a 14 or 15, IIRC, and there weren’t ever any concerns over whether or not he could read defenses.

Dak has more playoff wins than Lamar and more fourth quarter comebacks.

Dak is just Dak. He's basically a more athletic version of Derek Carr. In fact, he's a lot like Carr in that he's got some impressive stats for people to ohh and ahh over, but no significant wins. Don't get me wrong, I'd take Dak before Carr no question, but it's hard to really see a huge difference in their level of play when the big game is on the line.

On the other hand, Lamar might just be Lamar. Or he might grow into a Vick, just without the cannon arm. Or maybe he becomes something like, oh, Donavon McNabb. But a lot faster.

My personal opinion is that Lamar will get better as a passer. He is working on the craft of QBing, and from all reports working really hard. Will he reach an elite level of QB play? I doubt it. But if he could get to Dak's cerebral level, say, with his other physical attributes he'd be pretty damned dangerous.

Of course he does, he's has more seasons under his belt, and is 27 yrs old now. I'll tell you what he doesn't have though, an MVP.

Considering that Dallas has a 2018 Chiefs-like Defense and Lamar can't throw accurately outside the lines, I'd be surprised if Dallas could win 3 more games this season.

Offensively, the Ravens are nothing special at WR or TE but I think Dak gets more of out the passing game than Lamar ever could, so I'll go with Dak.

Baltimore was really exposed Monday night. They don't really have any transcendent players on offense or defense (outside of Jackson's athleticism and running ability) and as much as the Bengals, Browns and Steelers have improved this year, Baltimore could be looking at an 8-8/9-7/10-6 kind of season.

New England, Dallas and Tennessee could really cause them problems this season, too, because once the Ravens are down by 7, their offense falls apart.
