Smart home products

Who has them? What do you have?

We got a Nest thermostat a few months ago and we just completed our first cycle on the gas bill with it for an entire month. The results are pretty awesome. It’s been a pretty cold winter this season and despite that our gas bill has been greatly reduced. Compared to the same time period last year our bill was about $80 less. We will see how consistent the savings are but the early returns are nice. It’s also convenient for ease of use with the app.

We also have three Google mini speakers. They are pretty handy. One of the best things is using them as whole home surround sound.

So has anyone else started incorporating smart home products?

One camera in front and one camera in back should be enoughfor the average house. That seems like massive overkill

I really like my Blink cameras. The indoor ones have been running on the same AA batteries for almost 2 years now. The newer outdoor cameras are 1080p, adjustable motion sensitivity, wifi connected, send an alert with video, free cloud storage and no fees. I think the last camera with controller I added was $79 on sale. I've got one mounted on a tree next to the drive about 80 feet from the house. It's wide angle enough to get the plate number as a vehicle passes and still cover the entire front yard. The other one is mounted on the front of the house and catches motion coming up the front steps to the door. I only wish it had 2-way audio.

I'm going to upgrade my whole HVAC system within the next year though.
If I’m not mistaken I don’t think you need a C Wire for the regular Nest thermostat. I do believe it’s necessary if you have the Nest E one (the white one).

Going to give one of these a shot. I do have a Amazon cloud cam but it doesn't rotate.
