If owners are bribing their coaches to throw games...they should be stripped of their teams. There needs to be huge investigation - including what aspects of the gambling world could have had this knowledge. It's disgusting.

Anybody who bet on Dolphins or Browns games would have grounds to file a lawsuit. No?

For instance. I'm well aware that the house has a slight edge when I'm playing Blackjack. I know that the odds are against me and I choose to play anyway. That's a risk. Now if the house is manipulating the deck or rigging the game further to ensure the dealer always wins, that goes beyond risk and into illegal activity. If I bet on an NFL game that is presented as a legitimate sporting contest, I know I might lose. That's a risk. If the game being played was intentionally rigged without my knowledge though, that's illegal. I didn't have extremely relevant information when my action was taken. I'm sorry but I'm pretty sure a good lawyer would rip your "risk" argument to pieces. |

The NFL doesn't even pretend to have legitimate sporting contests and have said as much to the Supreme Court. You're essentially betting on the Royal Rumble.

Me, I like college football. But again, it depends on which conference because there are those where outcomes seem predetermined. The lesser conferences, like Conference USA, may be more amateurish but are also more fun to watch because it lacks big money. |

And Team A and Team B are whoever the NFL says they are. And the "football game" is whatever the NFL says it is. The shit is worded in the antitrust that way for a reason.

They can sue, but they will lose, just like the Jets fan who sued the NFL in 2010 because he bought season tickets, and the New England Patriots were caught cheating via the Spygate scandal.
The NFL basically had their lawyers argue to the Supreme Court that it's sports entertainment, there's no law against manipulating their onfield product ("for entertainment purposes only"), and that even if fans knew the product was "manipulated", they would still watch. Ultimately, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the NFL, and that the ticketholder's rights were to be entertained by whoever the NFL decided the New England Patriots and New York Jets were on those particular days in question. ' Basically, if they kick off the ballgame, then line up like ****ing Lord of the Dance and start line-dancing at the 50, if the NFL says that's football and you're entertained, then that's what it is. SO, yeah, there is zero legal recourse for anyone who has spent money on tickets, lodging, travel, food, accommodations, or gambling, even - you made your choice, your money is gone, you were entertained, the NFL thanks you for watching this presentation...
