Did Mahomes regress this season?

Obviously the stats are not as gaudy as 2018.

Even without the injury, his stats would have been down.

Are his stats down because the team didn’t have to lean on him so hard or are they down because he regressed in the red zone?

Discuss....

Literally the only regression is that he threw 2 TDs/game, not 3.
And we all expected fewer TDs.

Comp %, Y/A and everything else are similar. Yards have been down in a few recent games simply because he didn’t have a lot of attempts. If those games had been shootouts, he’d likely have rung up 300 and a few more TDs.

Mahomes is still slinging, but his cross body throws are more ineffective because he can't use the violent torque to generate more velocity due to his knee.

Watched a you tube video from the Athletic or KC Star a couple of weeks ago where they mentioned that he is getting treatment on the knee every day and immediately after the game.

He looks good running but like you said, he's not attempting to make those unnatural throws that he did last year throwing across his body running the opposite direction. That's going to place a lot of torque on that knee. No reason to risk that throw anyway. Down in the 2nd half of the Super Bowl, then Mahomes can break that out.

Regressed a bit but not much. Injuries slowed him down. Dude definitely grew as a QB this year by learning we don't need a home run all the time. He's taking what the defense gives him and playing smart football. He's playing similar to Alex in that respect. What sets him apart, is that he sees the entire field and isn't afraid to chuck it when it's there. Next year I think will see him closer to 40 paying TDs.

Still the most dangerous QB in the league.

No. Andy was allowing him to do what he wanted before the injury. He was on pace for 6k yards. After injury our offense scaled back. More called quick passes and one or two read throws.

At least I am hoping it was called. Many times the last few weeks our offense has stalled from not going through his reads. Some of that is our line. Some is him.

For the playoffs I would like to see the pocket move more. Playcalls in early for audibles and mix in some moredeep routes by everyone and rb out of the bf route in isolation.

I just think the league figured him out...

I mean, 3 fewer 300 yard games in 2019.
Damn near a 1,000 fewer yards in 2019.
An eye popping 24 fewer TDs in 2019.
Dropped a whopping tenth of a point with completions.

I mean... just trade the guy at this point and hope you can fleece some team out of a fourth.

False.

Teams are preventing the big throws down field most of the time, however, Pat has maintained discipline and patience to take what is given to him is what he has learned to do this year. What will happen next year is he will learn to manipulate defenses better to get more big throws down field. Count on it. I know a lot of you guys think Pat has totally arrived as a QB but he hasn't yet which only begs the question how good can he really be?

It'll probably be at least 4 more years before he hits his prime as a signal-caller. At that time, the question will be "is he Manning 2.0? Or Rodgers 2.0? Or . . .?"

Or he'll set a new standard called Mahomes 1.0.
