Alex Smith. I became a Chiefs fan after visiting the US for thanksgiving in Leawood with my ex’s family. Had never even watched an NFL game before (being English, in my view ‘soccer’ is football), but after experiencing the atmosphere at Arrowhead I was hooked & have followed ever since

Lenny the Cool. They had a couple KU players, McClinton and Coan and some rookies that turned out OK--Budde, Buchanan, Bell, Wilson, and Hill.

I've followed the Chiefs since they moved to KC (I was in high school at the time.) I didn't realize there were so many old farts either.

Grbac. I was 5.
I liked the color red, and the Chiefs were great. The first game I watched was a 10-40 blowout against the Patriots of all teams. It was the start of a 6 game losing streak. We have a chance to really exorcise that demon on Sunday. |

Steve Deberg.
Started going to games in '91. The Buffalo MNF blowout is the first game that I actually have memories of and I still believe that is the one that put KC on the map as a legit franchise during that decade. I'm 36, so I don't have the years invested that some of the older generation on this board has, but I was beginning to really buy into the belief that this franchise was snakebitten. No longer do I have that belief.

I rooted for the Chiefs before then, but Trent Green was the QB whenever I actually really started paying attention to and learning about the sport.

I moved to KC at the very tail end of the Trent Green era and dropped my old team for the home team. That was immediately followed by some pretty bad football teams (QB's in particular) until Andy and Alex got here.

Dawson... Chiefs had training camp here in Liberty and one of my dads friends hung out at the Corner Bar downtown... That’s were some of the players liked to get beers in the evenings cause it was walking distance from William Jewell College where they were staying...
Well my dads friend decided he was going to give Len some shit at the bar one night... Len took the guy outside and beat the crap out of him.. went back in and finished his beer... No ESPN in those days so no one knew about it except the people who were there... Lenny the cool was also a tough SOB... |
