They didn't do a wipe with the new build. The characters from the 11/11 test are still there. Although some may be bugged, according to posters in the beta forum.

I signed up for an account at www.swtor.com and then signed up for beta testing. Then a few weeks ago, they announced that anyone who had an account created before 11-11-11 was going to be invited to an upcoming weekend beta (starts tomorrow).

They also partnered with a bunch of media sites to give away beta keys. I'm not sure if they're still giving them away, but you might check sites like IGN, MMO Champions, Joystick, etc.

Surprised how smoothly this has gone so far this morning. The server I've on has been stable, and only a couple of momentary lagspikes.

Damn, I am playing this weekend and this blows WoW out of the water for me. The main reason is the story. WoW just always ended up feeling like a job and my character always seemed so lifeless. In fact, avatar is a better term for WoW. SWTOR has characters. I had to get up at 6 this morning but was up till 1 last night playing this, and that's on a character I'm not even going to be able to keep when the beta ends.

I've played Jedi Knight and Bounty Hunter. Both awesome in different ways. I'm only level 7 with my JK, but I'm 10 with my BH and about to leave the noobie area.

If all the classes are as fun as these two, it's going to be brutally difficult to choose a main. Good problem to have, I suppose. I love BH, but I am really drawn to Sith Inquisitor (probably assassin).

Soooo.... is anyone NOT going to have early access? Who wouldn't preorder this that actually wanted to play it?

I haven't even really thought of this game in terms of specific roles. I know it will fall into that to a certain extent, but most of the classes seem so versatile and built to solo. Then again, the Star Wars movies were all about a group of very different people with different skills working together for a common cause and all that so I'm sure they want to foster that sort of environment. I'm interested in how the dynamic will work out.

look on the website for a guild called wookiee crisps and apply to it. it will put us all on the same server in the same guild at launch.

P.S.

This is the Empire side. If you want to play the Republic, Huff has a guild called the Right Fifty Three. As goes for his guild, all CP'ers are welcome.

At early levels, you don't really need to have all the bases covered. The first flashpoint (dungeon) is pretty much a free-for-all, just have 4 players and wreck shop.

The second one, Hammer Station, better have a healer and a tank. Ultimately, this game is built on the trinity still, tank, heals, dps. Speccing your advanced class into a hybrid will be fail. Pick what you want to do, and then choose the storyline to go with it, pretty much how it should work.

I am 21 on my Assassin tank, and it is AWESOME. Story is cool, tanking is fun, with a unique ranged aspect to it, I just dig it.
