I'm not seeing it reported anywhere other than that Tweet.

I won't ever complain about getting some SP depth. He is 29, though, so I can't see his command just improving out of the blue.

Certainly seems capable of striking guys out. From just a brief search it seems he throws mid 90s with a really hard curve. He's started but could certainly be an attempt to convert someone to a reliever like they did with Wade.

True. Give him an early shot for the back-end of the rotation out of spring training. See what he can do, and if he catches lightning in a bottle then KC can ride that out. If he struggles (ie Wade/Hoch) try him out for 'Borg status.

One more thing to note on Karns, although he is 29, he has 2 years of service time total. He won't be eligible for free agency until after the 2020 season. Traded one year of Jarrod for, *potentially*, 4 years of a serviceable starter. Do your thing, GMDM/Eiland.

Karns command will be as big an issue for him in relief as it would be as a starter. I don't think this is one of those 'eh, if he can't start, he's still a nails reliever' scenarios that comes with guys who struggle to develop a 3rd pitch. Karns has a fundamental weakness that would be a problem for him regardless of role. This one has a little more risk to it. But you also have 4 years of team control here and that's quite a bit of value for one year of Dyson.

Karns is an upgrade at 5 over Chris Young. Save him for relief work now.
