*.* NEW- 2014 General Fitness Thread *.*

I guess we filled up the old one... http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=280149

Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

No one else started it so here it is!

**From the 2013 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

I eat a bunch of it as well.. in the end its just a energy source.
It is more likely to be stored as fat, but only if you're eating excess calories to begin with. Glucose very rarely turns to fat, even in a caloric excess but fructose will easily. But if you are just using it to fuel your body and activity, fructose will get where it's needed. Plus, if you eat it via fruit, it's ****ing hard to get too much. The fiber will fill you up first.

Some people have high bp despite healthy habits. Check it again.

Both my parents who are in shape, exercise daily and watch what they eat both had high BP at a young age.

Guess what lucky child who also workouts out, watches what he eats and stays in shape has for BP numbers.....I've been on BP meds since 21. If it's genetics related, you'll have it and it should be taken seriously from the start.

However, many people get high readings from time to time. It's best to monitor it a few times a week and see if the high tread continues. If it does, see your doctor. Watching your sodium and making sure you get enough water can help as well.

I find it funny that someone like you who throws shit to everyone calling them out when they are wrong, thinks he knows on this topic.

Did you really use the reasoning early that "I'm overweight by choice?"

I mean really man?

We are here to help people and point out the facts. Too much shit out there in the fitness word is bogus bullshit. We'd like if you simply wouldn't add to the garbage out there. We'd all be glad to point you in the right direction if you'd like on working out or diet.

I have agreed with 99% of the things Clay mentions about nutrition. Besides his comment telling me I shouldn't watch my sodium.

But he's done it and he's maintained it. Props for that.

Yes, really. I ate like shit everyday, it was my choice that I ate bad. WTF are you even saying?

Do you really think I don't know anything about nutrition? Clay isn't the only ****er who can lose weight dip shit. I was at 298 when this started, now I'm at 273 as of this morning. Want me send you ****ing pictures. People lose weigth differently and have their own opinions on how to do so.

You don't even ****ing know me. I do know that 30 diet sodas in a month is more harmful to your body than 3 regular sodas a month. You're ****ing lame bro

That depends on how you determine harmful. Three regular sodas will certainly contribute more to weight gain than 30 diet drinks. But then, someone drinking 30 diet drinks may overconsume in other areas because they think they can get away with it because they're drinking fewer calories. But then, if you monitor calories, you can control it and swing it back in favor of diet drinks.

However, it's faulty reasoning to assume that just because aspartame is a chemical, that means it's harmful to you in small (or not so small, as it happens to be in this case), scientifically studied doses. I mean, you could technically eat enough potatoes or cherries to die from cyanide poisoning. It's not very likely, although a guy did die from cyanide poisoning by eating the entirety of an apple every day. The cyanide in the seeds built up in his system and he died. Point being that everything can be harmful with the right dose. But labeling it as bad, contrary to scientific and peer-reviewed studies, is irresponsible. No one is forcing you to eat or drink these things, but needlessly dissuading others from something that can help them lose weight isn't very cool. And the extra weight is far more harmful than a few diet sodas a day could EVER be.

I completely understand what you're saying. Great post. I would still rather drink 3 regular sodas in a months time rather than to drink one can of diet a day. I don't see how that would be better for your body. It may help with weight loss, but I think the long term effect is far more harmful. Just my opinion though. I don't claim to have a degree like Lewdog.
