Ok.. Say he stays out till the bye... And team struggles and loses all 4 games.. We are 5-6 with a game with NE next... No margin for error of that happens...9-7 may or may not win the division...

I think they bring him back as soon as he and an MRI says he's ready...
Hopefully he is truthful about any pain he may be having and not just telling the trainers what they want to hear to get himself on the field..

He did that with his ankle. And in Detroit, Indy, Houston we could clearly see it was limiting him in the second halves after he took some hits. Love Mahomes but I don't trust him on this one. He's competitive as hell and will go out there even if nothing in his body is working. He believes he can fight through this and he can, but the question is if we want that 75% version of him fighting through things... or can we get him to a point where he doesn't have to fight things and we don't risk having second halves like we saw in Houston. I'd have to think that's possible if we're patient.

By the way, I also trust Andy Reid to win 2 of the next 4 no matter who the QB. He's that good of a coach.

I agree.

I know we are all just throwing opinions out on this and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Its simple though if he is healthy enough to play you play him. Period. You don't take anything for granted as far as what we might be able to do if we go 2-2 without him etc...

If he sits until the Vikes game there is no reason to believe his ankle won't be close to 100% by then and I don't think there will be any lingering effects from the kneecap except whatever effects a brace may have but thats going to be a necessity regardless of how long he waits I assume.

That's obviously a very different situation. As I said earlier, you hold him out 2 games and monitor our situation in the AFC West and with the #2 seed. Keep in mind that Oakland losing help us too. If we get through 2 games and still have a cooshy lead, then you consider 3 or 4 games IF you think that gets him much healthier.

Everyone's still riding high on that Denver game when the defense showed up.

Reality is that the donks have a horrible horrible offense and the defense will regress closer to the mean.

If we lose some games while Mahomes is out, I will probably grumble some.

If we rush him back and play him when he is not fully healed, and he gets hurt worse... I will be livid!

No, I will not grumble. First, Reid has won an insane number of games with a backup qb. He is a guru at it. Not his first rodeo. We will still be competitive without him. But more than anything, I don't care about wins tomorrow, I want to know what puts us in the best position to win games in January. And I really can't imagine how resting him doesnt improve the chances of a better January mahomes.

Mahomes and RG3's injuries aren't remotely similar. Also RG3 went out and played again in the same game he was hurt in without getting an MRI.

So yea had they let Pat go back out in the 2nd half you would have a fair comparison.

RG3 had a partially torn LCL he was playing on BTW.

Two different people, two different Injuries. Very different.

Also it's not rushing him back if they clear him to play. There is no way they put him out there if he's not ready.

They could legit lose every game and gamble January away by sitting him.

If he's not cleared and not ready you have no choice but you don't just sit him just because. It's the NFL it's too competitive. It's football you risk injury every down.

Again this defense won't look like they did against Denver.

They did what your supposed to do against terrible teams and that good build on it but all the demons that showed before we played the donks will show their ugly head again.

Maybe someone can point me to a rehab expert who says otherwise. But at least on Twitter the consensus seems to be that it's not about mahomes healing it's about possibility of reinjury which won't be fixed until he's actually had surgery which seems likely after the season. Just because he's cleared to play and feels better doesn't mean we've eliminated the risk. So it's not even just about getting 75% mahomes vs 90% mahomes. Does resting and proper rehab reduce the likelihood of reinjury? Id have to think the answer is yes. If so, winning a #2 seed when we can rehab properly and win the division isn't worth it. It's a gamble. God forbid it pops out again and next time actually damages something.

Yes thank you! He dislocated his knee. No damage and they aren't even considering surgery in the off-season.

It's just rehabing it and making sure it feels good and not sore and stable.

Had two opinions and he good.
