I guess we filled up the old one... http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=280149
Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition! No one else started it so here it is! **From the 2013 Thread** If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs If you have questions about the SS programs, look here: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started. Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE: http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point. |

No, actually.
I tend to avoid anything that boosts energy. No coffee, energy drinks or preworkouts for me. |

Why? Caffeine isn't just good for energy. It's a proven ergogenic. A modest amount may be enough to carry you through the end of your workout and will definitely help you lift more.

I'm a bit of a minimalist in most every facet of my life. I don't particularly like it and don't need it so..
I don't really have issues with energy levels and don't want to deal with the inevitable addiction. |

And have you used any *actually* addictive substances? I wouldn't, if I were you.
http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/library/basicfax5.htm Way behind alcohol, slightly more addictive than pot. Nowhere on the same planet as nicotine or heroin. |

I can't even go to the grocery store without sprinting over to the energy drink section. I'll even make up excuses to go the the store, knowing in the back of my mind that I'm really going there for the energy drink.

haha,
These things aren't that hard to break away from. I like a good green Monster Original about once per month - but that's about it. I can see how someone would like them all of the time. But also (i've been that person) I was addicted to Pomegranate RockStar for a few months - I kicked that habit very easily. My closet cigar smoking is a bigger concern for myself. |

But we already knew that. I only take Caffeine pre-workout. About 200 mgs. Otherwise, I never touch it.

I'm the same way man and I don't consider myself a mental pussy at all, but actually quite the opposite. I'm an OCD person that always mentally and physically in over drive and those help me keep going at that pace. It beats the hell out of being a fatty on the couch IMO.

I'm in my 20s and generally get 8-9 hours of sleep a night. I refuse to believe I have a problem with energy levels.
I may be able to curb my caffeine usage but it isn't necessary so I wouldn't even bother. Everyone that I know that drinks coffee or energy drinks on a daily basis gets headaches or can't make it through the day when they don't get their fix.. They're fiends. |
