So Ramsey got the jaguars two 1sts and a 4th. Sneed should get at least a 1st and a 2nd

I think we are very prepared for life without sneed.
I dont think we are prepared at all for life without jones. Tagging sneed means jones will 100% get to test the market unless he stupidly decides to sign within the next week or so. Buckle up fellas, we could potentially be losing both of these guys. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wow.
Someone actually gave up value for the right to pay Jarvis Landry on the tag. The stupidity of NFL teams never ceases to amaze me.

I’d still rather just keep him on the tag for a year, re-sign Jones and go for the 3-peat. Our chances of doing that are so much higher with Sneed on this roster. Then you can let him walk next year and still get a 3rd round comp pick.
I’m a little shocked how willing some people are to flip Sneed for just a second round pick. The guy is an absolute elite alpha playmaker in ever sense of the word. No matter what we get for him, it’s going to goddamn suck and I’m going to miss him more than any player in recent memory. |

Paraphrasing of course. PS - McDowell also hinted there will be no hometown discount from Jones's camp. He is chasing the money. Also paraphrasing. Last edited by Coogs; 02-27-2024 at 05:06 PM.. |

Jarvis Landry sucked up 161 targets to net fewer than 1,000 yards the year he drew the tag. He averaged 6.1 yards/target.
For perspective, Skyy Moore averaged 6.4 yards/target this season. That's how unbelievably inefficient Landry was and a team actually sought out the ability to pay him as a top 5 Wide Receiver. Cleveland, man. Them boys is just dumb.

I do think we have to consider that $19 million in cap hit will go a pretty damn long way in FA. And ultimately the team would probably prefer 'take care' of a guy like Sneed and send him out to get his LTC somewhere if they can't do right by him for math reasons here. I know players would prefer every team be the Cowboys and they just pay their own guys whatever the hell they ask for, but that's also why the Cowboys don't win a damn thing. Second to getting that, guys want to get paid somewhere. And the guys in the lockerroom will understand that. They'll respect it, IMO. So if you have to take guy who's done literally every single thing right in his career and is likely going to have a very short window for a LTC and hold him hostage on a tag deal...that may not sit well with his teammates (and can you imagine an Earl Thomas scenario where he gets hurt? That could get ugly behind the scenes). I think everyone's just being professional right now. The Chiefs want to keep him. He wants to stay. But the Chiefs are content letting him talk contract with other teams to get a lay for his market and if they can't get together, they trade him. He gets paid, they get some assets. You've reached a mutually agreeable outcome. It's a pretty damn solid approach to this.

Oh believe me, I get it. All parties are handling it perfectly and I understand this is nothing but a business. I just hope they find a way to keep this thing together for another year at least.
Sneed is so important to our chances of winning it all again. I don’t think we’re as prepared as people think for his departure. He’s a rare player that brings a very special presence in addition to his raw talent. He brings an edge that’s infectious, I would hate to see the D lose that. |
