So, what’s this Sneed trade gonna end up being?

Since we know this thing is coming down in the next few days.

What’s the predictions? Not what you want, but what you think the details end up being?

Saunders didn't reach anything resembling average until his 4th year, the only year he produced. Chenal has been very average so far. Then you have turds in Lucas Niang and Dorian O'Daniel. Wanya Morris looked like hot shit most of last year but too early to tell.
I'd kinda say it's 50/50 between very average or not much. I don't know if I want to double-up on that versus keeping Sneed for one more run. We don't "need" a ton more cap space but we're looking at maybe forcing our hand at LT in the draft. I think I'd prefer that to a 3 for Sneed. It just sounds like bad management of resources.
Don't agree on Chenal but I think I'm with you on everything else

All of this combined with how he played the position.

Peters took massive gambles to get most of his INT's, which meant he'd also get burned A TON when he guessed wrong. His style of play was never gonna work out long term, and you saw the same exact thing in Baltimore.

He's a good player, and he does a role on the defense that is far from special teams grunt.

That's a great use of a 3rd round pick, considering most of his peers in that round are JAGs and/or busts. Sign me up for more Leo Chenals in the 3rd round.

Is a role player worth getting rid of Sneed for? There's a pretty big leap from "guy that does a job" to "top-5 player at his position."

And how the guys they might look to reload at those positions could change the comp pick formula if Sneed and/or his replacement was in the mix?
I’m just a guy in a lazy boy giving his opinion. I’m positive Veach and his team vet through every single scenario and offshoot scenarios based on those results so he and his team are properly prepared for every possible outcome. I remember that being a good conversation piece around the time we drafted McDuffie because they didn’t have a scenario for him being available because they didn’t think it was possible.

The overlying part of that is for us to wait and see what the details of the trade are before deciding if they like the trade, or not.

I hated trading Peters and thought we got hosed in the trade…I was wrong.
Wasn’t a fan of the Hill trade (started a poll about it before word got out he was being shopped)…2 rings later, I couldn’t be more wrong.

I have faith in Josh Williams stepping up into a bigger role, but we’re gonna miss Sneed in certain matchups.

Is a role player playing for peanuts worth getting rid of Sneed and a 22/year cap hit.

Or a role player and enough salary for a vet LT?

It's not quite that simple, is it?

It's Sneed and $20m vs a #3 and however many guys you can afford to sign with the $20m. Be that many or one plus player at a position where perhaps you have no one.

Personally I’m kind of on team trade just because we have a really good defense without him. But damn watching his play on that other thread is just crazy. Dude is a total beast

Veach has pretty much instilled so much confidence in me that whatever they decide is what’s best. He will find another young good DB in the draft when the time comes

There is 1 LT worth signing in FA right now. That's Donovan Smith. We have 15.8m with Sneed right now and can make some space if we have to make that work by restructuring some other guys. Kelce can save us 5.4m if we convert salary to SB and kick the other 5.4 to next year. Taylor can save us about 12m if we want. So, we can kick other cans a bit to keep the guy on the roster and sign Smith. Certainly not the planned ideal but I'd rather kick a can to sign Smith for a potential 3-Peat than lose Sneed for a 3rd-round pick. It might feel a bit like "going all in" but I think you do it. This is a chance that doesn't come around very often that solidifies legacies for all time.

Sure, and that's all a legitimate position and one that I'm sure the team is comfortable with.

Trading Sneed, freeing up the cash, acquiring more draft ammunition, all of that is a legitimate position that the team is also obviously comfortable with. Even if it's just to get ahead of some of the extensions that will be needed moving forward.

Threepeat, sure. I think the team is more focused on winning 7, 8, 9, or 10 Superbowls. If it's 3 by 2025, cool.

I look at it like this-

We needed that dominant defense in 2023 because of the historically bad performance from the WR group just torpedoing the offense. I'm not really interested in getting into an argument about how that should have been foreseen-because there was no reason to assume that the entire group would regress to unplayable for most of the season. Even if they'd just been JAGS, it would have been a top 5 offense.

This year, barring injury, it will be much better than JAG. Rice and Brown are plus players. We'll be a top 5 offense.

And even if there's no Sneed, that will be a top 10 defense, barring catastrophic injuries.

That's enough balanced firepower to get it done.

The moment we signed Jones the Sneed situation became far more complicated and we lost leverage. They had and have contingencies and they’re operating with that in mind.
Yep. And we would have done the same thing if the roles were reserved. Sucks but that’s competition

The only position I could see being a "problem" is LT. Everywhere else I'm confident we already have enough.
